Greetings all. Is there a fairly large capacity case tumbler available out there that would handle up to 1000 .223 cases and stainless pins for wet tumbling? I’m thinking I may need to build me own......*eyes his wife’s unused for 3 years treadmill*.

Was looking to buy just for the convenience of the matter.

Thank

Make your own tumbler out of 6” pvc pipe. Put some paddles inside. Depending on how clean you want your brass, you can skip the SS pins.

I soak overnight and then tumble for 1 hour. I find the pre soak reduces the tumble time.

For very dirty brass I to a two stage process. First is 15 min in reduced soap. It removes the majority of carbon and dirt and the water comes out black. Then I drain it and tumble in fresh soap for 2h. That way the soap for the main tumble is not used on the extreme dirt and cleans better

If you aren't going to need it every day I'd consider making a drum from large PVC pipe and throwing it on the treadmill. An hour or two is usually lots of time.
For regular use it might be nice to make a dedicated unit but the treadmill is already there and taking up space.

I tried that and I didn’t see a difference.

Plastic cement mixer with a mix of very warm water, Lemi Shine (dishwasher cleaner), Dawn dish soap, and a squirt of Lemi Shine (or other brand) dishwasher rinse.

Works so well in my wet tumbler that I don't need my pins in to clean.

Rinse well in hot water and dry completely.

Good luck!

You're welcome.

Check out Lone Star tumblers from Texas. It will take 20# of material plus media and water. It is in-between a large vibratory and the cement mixer. The gearbox is an industrial setup. Great unit.

Keep in mind that with a large drum you need a lot of pins and all together (drum, brass, pins, water) it gets uncomfortable to handle.

My diy 6" pvc drum (about 6 liter) holds quite a bit of brass and I would probably prefer running two batches as opposed to one in a large drum unless it would be like a cement mixer style that's easy to handle but them you need way more brass i think.
