Large Game Pics - Deer, Moose, Bear...

Not really a "game" pic, but this is the one I got in 2006. Would have been 14 points, but 2 must have gotten cracked off during a fight or while scraping, so he's a nice 12 pointer. (You can't really see all four points on the brows, only the outside two).
This was my first Moose, 38 1/2 inches wide. Not a monster, I know, but great trophy never the less.

Here's Ty's first moose-he saw him with a cow and calf made a quick half mile around the lake and mouth called him out. He dumped him at 60 yards with a 6mm.

Real good archery bear-we haven't got him measured yet but he'll go pope and young for sure. ty blew a G5 through him and he went about 80 yards.

My First Deer

My first harvested deer!

A 6 point whitetail taken west of Kenora, ON, close to the Manitoba border on 13 Dec 08.

I took the shot from a kneeling position on a ledge overlooking a dense wooded area at app. 60 meters. The buck was slowly walking left to right. It came out from behind some evergreens and I tagged it on the move with one shot on a slight down angle immediately behind the front shoulder. It dropped like a stone and kicked furiously for 10 seconds and that was it.

I gutted and cleaned it with my buddy's friend instructing me. Took my time and it came out clean with no ruptured icky parts.

After that my back was done. The rest of the guys in my party helped drag it out. Good buds.

Skinned and currently at the butcher shop for processing into chops.

Tools used:

Remington SPS Varmint 308 LH (6 inches of the bull barrel have to go)
Vortex Viper 3-9 x 40
308 Winchester 150gr XP3
Buck mini Alpha

If I had posed my rifle in the rack it would have:
a) fallen out cause, while it was a 6 point, the rack was tiny,
b) bent the tines, cause the remy is so damn heavy,
c) looked stupid, cause I don't look anything like Col Craig Boddington.

I can hardly wait for next year!

This fatty is my first buck,

I was hunting at this new spot in Sawyerville, Qc and it was my 3rd year hunting deer but never had shot a buck before, i've seen many spikes before but never shot one... So this year for those who hunted in the townships know that it was pretty damn warm so i decided i'd wait for them at the food source instead of goin to them. The first 3 days i saw the same 4-5 does come every evening eat all my apples/carrots  (but its still thrillin to watch them) and i had no antlerless tag... On the fourth night, the same 4 does came and stayed for a while when all of a sudden i heard a lot of noise coming from the woods so i told myself "holy sh*t its either a f'n moose or a buck cause u never hear them sneeky does comin)... So here i am in my stand wonderin whats making all that noise and thats when i see that white flag poping up and jiggling in the woods about 80yards from where im standing but i couldnt see what it was so now im staring a 4 deers eating and a 5th one playin/fightin with branches obviously i knew it was a buck but he didnt leave me a clear view of its antlers and since i like to see what i'm shooting at i waited, waited and waited.... all of a sudden he realises that there's 4 hot babes in a pile of apples and starts walkin towards them and scaring them away... Thats when he started following them so i told myself " RAY HOLY SH*T YOU'VE BEEN WAITING 3 YEARS FOR THAT SO THIS BADBOY AINT GOIN NOWHERE" in a split second I took aim fired my 7mm rem mag hit him at about 40 yards he did about 15feet thn fell on its side and rolled on his back, kicked once or twice thn stoped.. i couldnt realise it i just shot my first buck and there it was a 6pts 15feet from where i shot it.. it was the cleanest shot ive ever did... for sure harvesting does is thrilling but shooting your first buck is totally different...

smoked this 6x4 at 400 yards with iron sights..but who cares abut that.the real thing here to me is how well the 8mm 323 diameter ballistic tips from nosler did..ever since the they brought out the 325 cal we that own old mauser milsurps just got access to some top grade bullets..i easily got it worked up to 2870 feet per second with H4350 and cci 200 primers and it does not even look hot.. i was gonna work it up to 2900fps but my buddy with his magnum was gettin choked up when he saw the crono reading. figured we were gonna kill ourselves but the primers look good .talk about straight shooting man was i impressed..i think she deserves a scope..i was not even gonna try the shot but it might be the last day i can get out..enjoy

Congratulations!! Well done.
You are spot on regarding the Nosler Ballistic tip for the 8mm. Unbelievable in my old Brno and Yugo 48A. The 8mm gives up nothing to the -06 or 308 win and is a truly under rated round for hunting any North American game.
Great pic and nice buck. With open sights no less!!

It was a slow year early on, work kept me from the field for the most part. I had 2 weeks off early Nov and took a young muley meat buck early.

3rd last day for me I took down my WT from a ground blind.
After returning to dress & pick him up a grouse also made an appearance. My young sage spotted him landing in a tree and a short stock with the shotgun put him on the table as well. I think the young fellow has a bright hunting future.

2008 Elk

Here's our 6X6 Elk we took in Alberta ,September '08. Thats me on the left with my good buddy Bruce Morton of Northbay,Ont. We called it in and Bruce got the shot on it with his .270. That was the easy part, getting it out was another story!

Well I finally got my '06 pics today (after asking for them for 2 years...), so I thought I'd share. Third buck that year. The other two were a spiker and a 6pt. Fourth deer was the doe this guy was hanging around with. Good year for me overall. All were taken with a Husqvarna 30-06 that was handed down by my grandfather when he passed that I've been using since I was 16.

Oh, and just ignore the dishwashing gloves. It doesn't make me less of a man, but a smarter one...:)

And now I got my 2007 pics! Here's the bigger guy with me and my rifle, and my two deer of the year back at home.

(I was skunked in 2008, so there won't be any pics :( )
