Wow how close was that when you fired?

He was around 50yds away or so, it was about 8:30pm.
The bullet entered just behind and below the shoulder (double lung) and exited hitting the elbow on the other side. He ran about 40yds then layed down and was dead within a minute.

I'm envious but also kind of glad that its only wild pigs that are dangerous over here!

haha, well in my experience wild pigs are a great deal more aggressive then your average black bear, most black bears i've met have ran as though the hordes of hell are after them. Can't say the same for the few wild boar I've seen.

Well the Fallow Buck Season opened

We had a good opening day which ran on for about a week with 2 Fallow prickets in the chiller and a nice Roe Buck, they have been open since 1st April and very nice to get one during the rut, that should ensure more come in. All of the people in the pics are clients;

A fallow I took, getting rare to get action this early in the season with so many clients so I made the most of this one.

She took it with a .243 in an old Ruger 77.
we are nowadays doing the gralloch where possible hanging the carcasse from a tree, this one I used the folding gambrel that I have started to import;

Making inroads into the prickets whilst they are trying to hang around their mums and pinch the fawns milk is a great herd management tool. It also gives us something to do whilst waiting for the rut to start and the big trophy heads to appear.

Nice, I cant wait for the doe season to open, 1st Nov to 31st March isnt long enough and there have been some superb ones seen. I do prefer the does as there is less pressure to take a trophy and more meat for the freezer. Its also the part of the annual plan that most stalkers avoid.
