I just received my Model 17 in the mail this morning (sweet) and was curious about buying larger grips. Anyone know where I can buy them?

Thanks in advance,
Rupert

If you're after factory target grips or Pachmayr grips they're in the EE fairly regularly. The Model 17 takes a grip made for a K or L Frame, and I think they're all square butt. Or are you looking for an oversize target-style grip?

To be honest my favourite full-size grips are Ahrends Retro Target grips--I like the feel much better than full-size factory grips. I've ordered mine from D&J Gun Repair in Virginia. Here's a set on my Model 28-2.

Herrett's makes nice custom grips based on a tracing of your hand. These are the Roper model on my K-38:

If you have particularly large hands, the Jordan Trooper model would be a good choice.

I'm looking at the two aforementioned websites and I don't know what/how to tell if I have a round butt or square butt handle. Forgive my ignorance but how do I tell?

You likely have a square butt identified as flat with no radius all along the square edged bottom, but take your grips off and have a look to be sure.

If you have a 17-4, it's a square butt unless it has been modified.

Here are what the two grip frame shapes look like:
