Large Rifle Primers

There is a decent supply of small primers coming into the country now. Its pretty easy to find small pistol and small rifle at the moment. Found a nice stash of Federal GMM small rifle primers and BR4's. Price is still high at $150/1000 but they are coming in. Funny enough , clowns on here are now trying to peddle small rifle primers for as high as $400/1000.

I only use 209 primers for my in line muzzeloader. I have more than I can use for a few years...are these also on the "hard/expensive" to buy list or is it limited to CF primers?

Can't find any in mb yet. I can find srp at one place out east but they do not answer multiple phone calls, voice mails and emails so....

It's not just you. Reloading isn't the economical alternative it used to be.

Here's another example of gun 'community' member profitting off a crisis.....but hey, never let a crisis go to waste, right? This add in the EE:

Selling full bricks (1000s) of primers as follows:

Large Rifle Magnum:
Winchester LRM x8

Small Rifle:
Federal 205 x2
Federal 205 Match x2 (+$20)
CCI 400 x2
CCI BR4 x1 (+$20)

Small Rifle Magnum:
CCI 450 x3

Small Pistol Magnum:
Federal 200 x2
Winchester SPM x1

$450 per brick except where noted, can ship at buyers expense but prefer pickup in South Edmonton area. Not open to trades at this time.

There's no crisis. Some guys have primers, some don't. We're not talking about a food shortage and they are asking $500 for a loaf of bread. Its capitalism, buy it or don't, you will live on either way.

How many people sold houses last year for 50% more than they were worth. I'll tell you, every one of them.

BTW, primers are going for $500 or more at auction, where the buyers are setting the prices, not the seller.

Local store had Federal srp in at 16.00/100 four or five weeks ago,all gone now of course. Was told lrp will be coming in due course at roughly the same price. ....catnip

At the Chilliwack 2 day show last weekend, small rifle primers were selling $150-$300. The $150/1000 sold out all through the show within the first two hours and by the end of the show on Sunday, most of the $300/1000 were gone.

Large Rifle Standard primers went from $250-$450/1000 and by the end of the show I didn't see any on the tables.

I sold off a 5K flat of CCI BR2 primers at $300/1000 and they were gone by noon on the first day. I had a couple more 1K sleeves and sold it on Sunday but kept the last one for my own use.

I also sold at least a dozen 1K sleeves of Large Magnum Pistol primers for $150/1000. Most of the buyers were using them as substitute ''standard'' primers.

Standard Small Rifle primers averaged $250/1000

There was a lot of wailing and gnashing of teeth, even some tears from some of the less well heeled folks and they were so desperate that they paid $30 for part 100 count boxes, with less than 60 primers in them.

That bothered me a lot. I know that there are people out there that would mix up primers from partial filled boxes to either fill the boxes or maybe even mix in different burn rate primers in one box. This would definitely cause some serious consistency issues.

Attended the Rodney Gun Show (Ontario) on Sunday. Learned from one of the vendors that a different vendor went around before the show opened, bought all of the Large Rifle Primers that any vendor had for sale, and then was selling them himself for $35 per 100.

I understand supply and demand, and willing buyer / willing seller.

Buddy and I said we should pay the $10 for a table, show up early, buy all the stuff we want before the show opens, and leave without setting up our own table. $10 to get early access to all the "stuff" seems like an unethical life hack.

One vendor who owns a gun store said that he's skeptical that he will be able to get Large Rifle primers this year. He was selling old stock CCI Small Pistol and Large Pistol Primers for $80/1000 which I didn't think was unreasonable. He didn't have any Small Rifle (and he sold his Large Rifle to that vendor who bought them all up).

Depending on the show organisers you would get away with that ONCE.

I have some large Rifle. Not for sale, but I would trade even for Large Pistol.

Same deal for small rifle. Would trade SR match for small pistol.

If I was going to sell the Large Rifle, I would have trouble charging the going rate. I would feel like I was taking advantage of the situation. A trade deal would solve that.
