Larger Mag's for No. 4 Enfield.

Does anyone know if you can get larger mags that are square and not angled like the normal mag for the lee. I am hoping to get a mag capacity of 15 or larger. Let me know if something exists. Thanks

I think there was a 20 round "trench" mag. very rare, more expensive that a REALLy nice No.4

They won't be square if they are for .303British unless you get them made with some kind of spacer. The mag is shaped that way because the cartridge case is rimmed.

That was only for the SMLE. It MIGHT fit a No.4, but wouldn't be "correct". More than likely, it wouldn't even fit.

I share your suspicion that despite being modified to fit something else, the Bren mag would still be classed as a Bren mag and subject to pinning or prohibition. There were some rare prototype conversions of SMLEs to semi or full auto in WWII and their magazines aren't prohibited or required to be pinned because they are still magazines intended for a bolt-action rifle.

No problem, just get a Charleton. It used a modified Bren magazine. Of course it's full auto and probably there is only one remaining in a New Zealand museum.

Oh, and about those 20 round trench magazines, 10,000 were made and just about all of them were scrapped. Rocking horse #### would be easier to find

Someone on here has a 20 round mag, it is curved so much the thing almost makes a full 90 degree turn.

I would imagine you would have to place a large order to get a company to design, and produce them. Each unit would also be pretty expensive.

Honestly I don't see the appeal, it would be heavy and awkward to use. My suggestion is to get some charger clips. They hold five rounds and are used to load the magazine of the enfied while still in the rifle. they are pretty cheap, about a buck a clip, they can be found on Ebay, the EE (equipment Exchange) and Marstar also carries them

I'd hazard to guess going prone would have been rather tricky with the mag sticking down so low like that.

I wonder if the Swedes ever had anything experimental like that for their Mausers? I know they made a lot of unique stuff for their rifles...brass catchers and such.

I've thought about a 15 rnd mag for my Bubba N0.4.
Can't beleive that no one has tried to modify a 10 rounder.
Has anyone tried cutting the bottom off one mag & the top off the other & weld them back together?

The bren mags are quite a bit larger than Lee mags.

Both the picture Dook posted and the items in it are mine. I bought the mag because it was for sale, I had the money at the time and I knew I'd most likely never see another one of them for sale in my lifetime. When I croak that one will be back on the block for another collector to enjoy.

As to making a 15 round mag, I guess I'd ask why? If you get in a fire fight with your LE and 10 rounds aren't enough you're in over your head anyway. If you are going to shoot a rapid fire string then you should learn to do it the true LE way and reload with chargers.

But then I can't say I've never done a project just because I could, whether it should have been done or not.

I can say with no uncertainty, that the standard Bren 30 round mag must be pinned to 5 rounds in Canada. It is only cartain drum magazines that are exempt, including the Bren 100 round drum. It might be possible to modify a 100 round drum to fit an Enfield, but the going rate for one of these drums is around a grand, so I think I'll be leaving mine alone.

I had seen in the past where a guy modified M14 mags to only fit his 308 conversion Enfield. Hard to say whether this would constitute a newly manufactured mag, or not for the purposes of determining magazine capacity.

While a 15 or 20 round magazine for an Enfield sounds kind of cool, in reality I think it would be pretty cumbersome.
