Largest caliber you've shot a coyote with?

Many years ago, I was deer hunting with some friends. We were doing a deer drive through a block of timber surrounded by fields and I was posted near one corner. No deer came out, but a coyote ran past me at 5 yards. Up went the rifle and I pointed at it when it ran past. Boom, gut-shot it. Was using a .300 Win Mag loaded with 180 grain Imperial Sabre tips (gives you a indication of how long ago that was).

I recently Shot a Feral Cat (house cat) with a 9.3x62.....
took off at 100mile an hour, with a fair sized hole thru its chest. then died.

Had guy visiting and bragging how good he was shooting long range and that he liked big guns.

So, of course for some reason he didn't have a rifle with him, but wanted to go shooting gophers.

So we took him out for an afternoon of big rifle gopher shooting. We all had 22-250's, 222, 243, but I let him run my 375H&H haha

He never hit a gopher all day long, but he did manage to hit a 100yard coyote. That was a big surprise to all of us!

I shot a coyote that had his nose down a gopher hole, with his rear end facing me.
I was packing a 30-06, with 150 grain Hornady FBSP at close to 3100 fps. Distance, 60 yards.
I shot him as close to the vent as I could, and that bullet almost severed front
from back. Biggest mess I ever made of a coyote. Left him for the crows and ravens. lol. EE.

...that's too good an end for a yote if ya ask me ;(

30-06 with 180 gr bullets, broadside at something over 100 yards, exit hole was a bit bigger than a nickel. 7mm rem mag with 139 gr hornadys at well over 400 yards, exit hole around the same. The most damage ever was a 22-250 on a quartering away your at about 15 yards, the entrance hole was as big as a grapefruit, there was no exit......

Largest calibre rifle on a coyote was the 375 H&H with a 260 Gr Nosler partion, he just walked out on the trail about 30 yds in front me, couldn't resist. At the other house we had a lot of feral cats that used to venture over from the farm next door. I shot many of them using the 12 ga. with skeet loads. the .410 with copper plated #6's, and my 22 mag. and several with my grandfathers 5mm Remington mag. Grandpa hated cats, so I would shoot at least one a year with the 5mm just to make him smile in his grave. Lived in that house for almost 30 yrs. so many kitties lost there 9th life there.
