So I have a day off tommorow and thought I'd go to Larose and do some grouse hunting. I have hiked there and am a member of EOHC so I am familiar with the area, but I am a little confused as to where you can and can not hunt in the forest...as long as I stay a respectable distance from the hiking trails should I be alright? Should I avoid the hiking trails altogether? Can I hunt on both the north and south sides of the boundry rd? Thanks!

Last year I was looking for the same information and sent the following email to the "Planning and Forestry Department, United Counties of Prescott and Russell".

Hello,

While researching the Internet for crown land for the purpose of hunting, I found several references to the Larose Forest. If you have a moment, I have a few questions.

1) All references to hunting in the Larose Forest are related to moose hunting. Are there any restrictions regarding small game hunting within the Larose Forest?

2) I see the forest is divided in 9 areas for moose hunting. Are all 9 areas open to small game hunting?
3) I found the following map on your website, identifying all moose hunting areas except for area 8.
http://www.prescott-russell.on.ca/data/library/File/Foret%20Larose/Carte%208%20zones%20de%20chasse%20l'orignal.pdf
Area 8 surrounds Limoges. Is there a restriction to small game hunting in area 8?

Your assistance would be much appreciated,

Regards,

The reply I received:

Mr. ######,

Thank you for your email.

1) There is no particular restrictions for small game hunting in the Larose Forest. We simply ask to stay off of the mark trails (ski trails, snowshoe etc..)
2) Yes all nine areas are open for small game hunting.
3) There is no reference to area 8 on the map.

Have a look at this map to get an idea of where are the public areas of the Larose Forest.
