LaRue, PWS, KAC etc, What Are We Really Paying For?

The only premium gun I would buy at the moment would be PWS. LMT is expensive because of the name in my honest opinion. HK Mr223 is too heavy and I feel that their parts are hard to acquire (though if the 243 is any good I might pick it up). KAC has talk many proprietary parts for a DI rifle.

If I want a proprietary AR I would want one that is unique and innovative but has good CS and Canadian support (re: PWS and Questar).

Ive seen a PWS piston break in 2 last weekend at the Petawawa CQB
Here is a quote from hypebucket.
What's up boys (and girl), was an awesome weekend meeting everyone even though it was bloody hot, I evidently can't shoot my pistol at 25yds & the trusty PWS piston busted before i could really put it through the Mad Minute (Whaaaaaaaa???). I made it back to MTL in 3hrs31 minutes and was i happy to hop into the shower. If anyone has a good idea of how we could all share our pictures and videos let me know so we can centralize it all! I know someone has 4k video of Tango 13 and Romeo 4 wants to see himself in HD ;)

Safe travels to all those still on the road!

I'll stick to my Noveske rifles and HK pistols.
The photo is a rehash from the spring CQB.

Di guns do break as well. We broke a Sig 716 during the sig sauer demo at crafm. The whole trigger group froze and the gun was out of commission. Things happen when you use your gun. I broke many pistol as well. For me, it's not as sign of weakness and as long as it's fixable, I don't have a problem with that.

Very interesting! I guess there are people who have had experiences on both sides of the fence. Curious as to what the issue with the gun was.

for the record, I run a USP and a DD 11.5" AR. Though when I want to save money, out comes the MK25 and CMMG MK47 mutant.

sig 716 is a piston AR308, not DI. not sure if your post was using the 716 as an example of a DI breaking?

In all fairness you can get a gun that comes from any manufacture that becomes defective despite going through abundance of manufacture test but something can go wrong. Barrel can wear out due do to some weird circumstance or bad ammo or a crack happens in the metal or whatever.

All you guys running HK's (pistol and rifle) - where do you get parts from? and please don't tell me they never break, or never wear out, if that's true you're not shooting enough.

Its easy to get parts... just order them from US or Europe?

Why do you guys even bother with these discussions? You have the camp that says things like "it resonates with me", who appreciate fine engineering, who put at least some value on a name, on tradition, on history, on intangibles. Then you have guys who say "They both go bang...there's no difference!"

There will never be a meeting of these minds.

some people buy honda civics
some people buy mercedes
they both go from a to b very succesfully
how they go from a to b is quite different
same thing here

I've managed to get most of what I want/need from Wolverine Supplies. It can sometimes take a while though.

For HK 416/MR223 you basically need gas pistons, firing pin springs, extractor springs and buffer springs. Those are the wear parts that you can expect to need replacement with use. Anything else is an unlikely to fail part that has broken for some goofy reason. If you think you're going to replace extractor/extractor springs I'd recommend also getting a spare complete bolt head. That way you can just use the spare and work on the old one at your convenience. I suppose the need for this depends on if you're shooting enough as you pointed out.
