I’m looking for top quality mags to run in my Stag-10, I know there are cheaper options but I need max COAL for my handloads.

From what I’ve read the Larue SR25 mags allow for much longer COAL.

They’re crazy expensive but might be worthwhile for handloads.

Does anyone know where to buy them in/to Canada?

I can squeeze 2.870" into my CPD pistol mag. That's about as long as possible to get into a sr25/m110 pattern magazine. I ran into feeding issue and bullet deformation seating that long though.

I've found that the only way to get close to the lands which you want for a vld style bullet you will end up single feeding and that defeats the purpose of the stag 10 in my eyes.

My 6.5 upper lands put me at 2.900 with a 140 gr rdf and that was no good. My 7mm08 uppers land are the same with a 162 eld and my 6mm creedmoor upper is 2.875 to the lands and that doesnt leave enough bullet in the neck to be useful. It also stove pipes with them out past 2.750. I'm getting .49 moa average 5 shot mag fed groups in my 6 creed upper with .125" jump with a 108 eld m.

Jamming bullets or trying to get a .010" jump is just repeated so much that people believe it. Making straight ammo is more important. If you are dead set on getting the bullet way out there you can always cut the front out of the mag and let the bullet tips go past the front of the mag.

I will also say that when I give my bullets a bit more jump it seems to drop my pressures. I went from 2.800 to 2.750 and the ejector swipe went away.

I looked for something similar, best I found were the Lancer L7’s.
According to the internet, the lancers have a max coal of 2.85” versus the PMAG LR118 or whatever they’re called at a max of 2.835 yet I’ve read complaint of these mags being quite thing on the polymer and prone to failure.

Again, take it for what it’s worth as this is just some guy on the internet who read about it from another guy on the internet.
That being said, I haven’t mucked around with the coal on my loads this year but I’ve been extremely satisfied with the 5 lancer L7’s I got for my stag.

Thanks all,

I have been considering the Lancer L7 mags too.

SAMMI spec is 2.80” COAL right?

I’ve already got a bunch of 2.83” handloads that fit my PMAG.

Realistically how long a COAL might I get safely in the Stag-10? Stag just says follow SAMMI specs which isn’t much help...

I know I can measure to determine it but I’m just spitballing ideas and theories before I get too invested.

I found any longer than 2.835 and the tips get damaged in the magazine (xcr pistol mag) from recoil. It's not enough to set the bullet back into the case but enough to deform the tip on the eld and tgk.
