Laser Bore Sighting System

Has anyone had any experience with the laser bore sighting system (cartridge style)? I am woundering if they work and how well?
I just bought a Savage 12bvss and a Burris Signature select scope, and am woundring if these things work or if i should go for a different type. Any suggestions are welcome and appreciated.

Or would it be better to take it to someone as i have never bore sighted a scope before?

I don't know about cartridge style.

in my opinion they're a waste of time and money- i had one( a rec-t-fire) in 308 and 338 and the lazer wasn't near strong enough to see at 50 yards, even with their fancy reflective target- you're better off using the optical bushnell with the arbours , or firing a few rounds at the range and doing it the old way

What kind of rifle? Can you pull out the bolt and look down the bore? Use a plumb line after leveling the gun to level the scope and centre the point of aim. That will get you close enough to shoot at paper at 25 yards.

It is a Savage bvss .223 bolt action.

Well then you can bore sight it using the actual bore and viewing down it. A vertical string hanging a small weight works well. It also helps you get the scope reticle perfectly vertical as well after you've leveled the gun.
