Laser range finder?

Another vote for the Leica, and a benefit of better optics is the glass is about 100x better than the leupold I sold, so the Leica mostly cancels my need for binoculars and takes up less space.

I would agree with rodregier said about this for a maximum of 500 yards. I use a Leica 1600, but that is a bit of overkill for what you require. Having said that, the Leica ranges wonderfully well.

I have a 1600B, and love it. The fact that you need the tripod adapter is a pissoff, but otherwise it's great!!
I'd love a Terrapin, but they're like hen's teeth, and they're bigger to carry than the Leica.

I think Burris is having a go at a scope with a built in range finder.
S&B now has some sort of "data in the eyepiece" setup coming, but I don't know what data it's gonna show.

You can get the Leica 1600B at Wholesale Sports. I had to get my mount from the US.
We go to Plentywood and pickup our online shopping once a month or so. You might be able to find a mount on amazon.ca, maybe??
I did a lot of research on this as well and what I found is that the Leica 1600 B seems to be a big favorite with a lot of shooters: exceeds expectations, super reliable, accurate and successfully ranges past the advertised limits. I am buying one today

I use the TruPulse units at work.
Fairly reliable and durable, especially the newer ruggedised version. The basic models are decently water proof but do not like the recent weather in Vancouver. Make sure they are thouroughly dried out before putting batteries back in or you need to send them out for maintenance.
With the basic 200 we've been able to range signs on hydro structures at 2,400 m. Under anything but perfect conditions they work well out to about 1 km. Moose and other furry critters can usually be ranged out to 400 m.

Strange how soon the Swarovski gets forgotten.

Solid unit. Furthest I have ranged was a hillside at 1600y. Its susceptible to vibrations so anything over 750y requires a bi-pod to improve results, at least for me. I have a hell of a time pushing the button and holding them steady.
Either way, ranges 1000 fairly easily most times. Love the unit. Discontinued so maybe can still find some out there. Used they seemed to sell around $750 used. Maybe not the cheapest. For 500y you can easily get away with a lot cheaper. If you want tags around 1200-1400 you pay for it.

I can range trees at over 1800 yards with my Bushnell Fusion 1600, holding the bino by hand with no tripod. Rangefinders have come a long way in the last few years. There is the Bushnell Elite 1 Mile, G7 BR2, Leica 1600b, TruPulse, Swaro, Vortex Ranger, etc. And that's not even taking the RF binos into account. We're very fortunate to have all the options we do. IMO bang-for-buck goes to Bushnell, though.
