I bought a pair of air pistols and decided to shoot them off a rest at 7 yards to see how well they could group under perfect conditions. I intend to use this for practising my draw and first couple of shots, so wanted to see how accurate the guns are.

I loaded the guns up with some Crossman copper plated BBs and shot. 1911 did 2.0" and the M&P did 3.3".

Then I re-loaded with some fancy silver coloured BBs advertised to be of better quality. The 1911 shot 2.7" and the M&P also shot 2.7". No conclusion if one BB is better than the other.

I tried again with my grandson's Daisy Red Ryder BB rifle. (Copper plated BBs). 1.45"

I attribute the improvement to the longer sighting radius on the rifle. My conclusion is that the BB guns are of sufficient accuracy to show up the difference in sights.

The M&P has a cheap ($8.00) laser on it, so I decided to try shooting a group with it. I have never shot a group with a laser sight before. I have used one in night shoots and love it. 1.15" This was an impressive group and tells me that this cheap air pistol ($35USD) groups well enough for serious practice and that a lot of the bigger groups with a handgun relate to the sights.

I can back those results. I have the M&P also. I only use steel bb's. But I've had similar results. It's pretty accurate, I'm not. I've shot sub 1" many times from 5 yards and I'm a pure newbie.

I have a target set up in my garage and can shoot up to 7 yards then it's outside. ...

I love that they make realistic copies of air pistols, I have a HK usp air pistol and it's surprised me. I bought it to shoot rats that were eating our chicken feed, I was able to head/neck shoot rats pretty far.
