So im looking at the Crimson Trace Laser grips for the 1911 there a little pricey. Any body know of other options as far as lasers go? Any one have a crimson trace laser product how do u like it?
 
Is the laser to be used for a serious purpose, or for playing?

I have a $15 laser mounted on a rail on both a carbine and a SIG that I use for indoor, lights off IDPA shoots. Works perfectly.

I have one epoxied to a Cooey 22 that I use for shooting the raccoons in my garbage (live on a farm). Works perfectly.

Check ebay. They are mailed from Hong Kong.
 
i would just be using it for destroying evil clay pigons which leads me to think i might not need to fork out 300 plus but i do like the idea of it being on the grip so i can use a normal holster
 
I just looked at Crimson's site and it looks like they now make green lasers and have grip models listed as "coming soon"
I'm guessing your 1911 doesn't have a rail.....?

In the past Marstar has claimed lifetime warranty on their NC Star products and that is the only place I would buy one from because of it.....the chinese lasers have a history of failure and you get what you pay for but NC star makes a couple of nice green lasers for around $75-$100 and if Marstar is willing to stand behind them that's a huge bonus.
I like the Viridian's but they are expensive and don't support rechargeable cells. The Cheaper NC star's run fine on rechargeable cells.
 
I remember seeing a few years back a company made a rail system for the 1911 it was held on by a pin that waa attached to it that replaced the retaining pin. i wanna say it was surefire but i cant find it on there site.
 
There are a few options out there for adding rails to a 1911 but if you want to use your regular holster you will need to get a grip model or maybe one that replaces the rear sight....
Do you have any pistols with rails already? If you do you could try a green nc star. which is fine for playing around at the range.

Lasers have a serious use for some professionals but for "fun at the range" you don't need to spend $400.00.
Lasers can also show you how bad your trigger pull is when dry firing.
