Last Dream Gun

Yes, CSC did have a number of Redbacks in stock last week, but they're not listed on the website anymore.

You could try contacting them to see if they expect another shipment soon (highly unlikely though).

I might do that, thank you.

Mine's currently listed on the EE for ~$10K.

A Taran Tactical 2011 Combat Master. Now if I could just convince my wife one last time...

Good looking gun for sure but from what I can tell from an IPSC POV they sit in a weird spot.

My understanding is that this gun would be in Standard class in IPSC and being 9mm / minor PF (to be clear I would prefer to purchase a 9mm pistol as I am heavily setup for the caliber already with lots of everything) it would be at a disadvantage to the 40s.

In open by contrast 9mm (in major) is GTG.......

Which leads to my next question regarding open guns:

I understand the concept of how the comp works and that the gun is supposed to shoot flat but for those that have experience is this accurate - if everything is setup / working correctly does the comp generate enough downward force at the muzzle that it counteracts the muzzle flip?

With regard to the optic, as it is not mounted on the slide (like a production optic gun for example) and as such doesn't move with the slide does that mean you can view it pretty much constantly? Or is that optimistic?

Looking at open guns I keep seeing the same brands pop up (STI / SVI / Limcat / Bul / Atlas etc etc) - what is the pecking order for these (controversial question no doubt.....)?

Thanks.

Anyone know what the difference is between this model (the "Performance") and the Alien that Tactical Imports were selling last week for ~$5500?

Its not clear in the advert but it mentions "WITH UPPER RAIL WITH OPTICAL SIGHT" - does that mean it comes with one slide thats optic ready / one slide with irons / two slides - one with irons and the other thats optics ready?

It appears the only difference is the price.

From the listing, it looks like it will only come with an upper rail that has the standard fiber optic iron sight.

If you'd like support for a red dot, you can purchase a separate upper rail for that later on.

Thanks for the heads up Shinato.

And you are correct - it is a much better deal.

I had one in my cart and ran to grab my wallet (to get my PAL number) and by the time I got back it was gone!

Thanks for the tip but my bank account is weeping.

I didnt miss this one, and for anyone else who uses a DAA Alpha X I just discovered that they now make an inset for the Alien.

Thanks for the tip about the insert block, and congrats on the pickup!

Bank pain is only temporary - regret will hurt more if you had missed out on it. :)

This is true. It felt like an extravagance as I have already stocked on other IPSC guns but this one is a little different.
