Hello all hope someone may be able to help me out.
Bought my para brand new from a local gun store it's fairly old manufacture as they've had it in their inventory for quite some time since 2012 iirc.
With no mag inserted slide lock functions normally. But with a mag inserted when you fire the last shot or rack the slide manually the stop fails to engage. This happens with all 4 of my mags. (para, colt, mec gar, and chip McCormick power mag) so I'm fairly certain it's a gun issue and not a mag issue. It does work intermittently with the mec gar mag.

Any ideas as to the cause? Or more importantly the solution?

Are you manually pushing the slide stop up when you say the slide stop functions normally with no mag inserted?

Are you riding the slide stop with your left thumb during shooting?
If you are sure all your mags work ( have you tried them in another 1911?) and you say you can lock the slide manually, it may be your hand position causing the slide to not lock back.

If you achieve a positive lock with finger pressure but not the mags ( and you're sure the mags are good) then try changing out the slide stop. It could be defective and not allowing the mags to engage it when empty.

Do you shoot factory ammo? Have you changed the recoil springs? Does the gun have feeding issues too? Maybe the slide isn't going back far enough to positively engage the stop.

Gun fed fine thru 200 rounds of factory ammo. So no issues there. Gun is showroom stock so to speak I've had it to the range exactly one time.

I am the only one who's fired the gun. It isn't just when it's fired. If you manually rack the slide with an empty mag in it won't engage either unless you actually push the slide stop up yourself.

You definitely have a mechanical issue then!
If you are convinced the mags are NOT at fault, then something is wrong will the slide stop itself.

Fiddle with it again last night and now I'm not so sure the mags aren't at fault. The para factory mag and cm mag do not work but the mec gar and the genuine colt mag does. The mag followers are all different styles

Sounds like the slide lock might be defective ie either the slide stop follower that sticks out to catch the magazine follower is not making contact with it or the top of the slide catch is rounded, undersized or poorly fitted.

Stick an empty mag into the pistol with the slide closed. Looking directly down into the pistol to where the magwell is, start pulling the slide slowly backwards. Keep an eye on the the magazine follower on the slide stop follower, does it start lifting by mag follower until the slide is all the way back? If so, chances are the slide catch is not fitted properly and the tail end of the slide catch is not lifting high enough to catch the notch on the slide. If no, the underside of the slide stop follower might be too low for the mags you're using? Try different brand mags.

Your pistol should be under warranty, you can send it back but be prepared to wait a bit for it to come back.

Had it to the range last night it seems as if 2 issues are causing my... Issue the plunger tube seems to have some excess pressure on it compared to my last 1911 and also the slide stop could stand to protrude into the gun a little farther as well

have had that happen with weakened magazine springs, interestingly enough some thirty year old colt mags work fine still

yeah. Kind of hoping (and let the car handling the deal k ow ) they just replace it with one of the remingtons ...they are nice!!! Haha.
