Late to the party. Tell me about the Browning Hi Power

I have 2 at present, a 1988 Mark II with the tangent sights called the Capitan model which has the deep dark blued finish and wood grips, and also the Mark III 75th year anniversary edition with factory adjustable target sights. Even though I have a Beretta 92fs and a CZ shadow, the hi powers will never be sold. Removing the mag safety was a great simple fix to a crappy trigger and the mags release easily.

All the ones I've handled in person have had a gorgeous blued finish, but what can you guys tell me about the grayish finish on the Inglis models? I think it looks pretty cool with some wear.

The Inglis guns are finished with phosphate parkerization. It gives that greenish gray tinge. The numbers are in the white (pantographed after the finish was applied )

It's a classic design, very reliable, accurate enough with the best ergos I've ever found in a pistol. Downsides are the magazine disconnect, stock trigger pull on most of the new ones, and hammer bite for those with thick hands.

That's an easy fix requiring about five minutes and simple tools.

Apparently the disconnects on newer Hi Powers are plastic, so keep that in mind.

The MK III and pre MK III BHP's require different methods to remove the mag disconnect. I think the first video is a MK III and that's why he had trouble. I know my 1977 was very easy to remove (like your 2nd video ).

With my 2003 MK III I took it to my smith rather than frig around with pulling the gun apart too much. (I've been known to lose/break small parts ;))
