Later every year .... the joke that is the BC LEH program

So I don't really worry too much about the LEH anymore but have lots of friends and new hunters I know that keep asking me why the LEH is not out yet.
Last update on the LEH site was April 16th.
This government has continually dragged thier @sses on anything recreational hunting related and is showing a pattern of opening the LEH draw applications later and later every year. I know this has been a hot topic among hunters as they are missing the windows to book time off with thier employers in a lot of cases.
Last year the draws opened on May 11th so I just assumed.... silly me..... that the system would go live yesterday. My wife is one of those newish hunters that is still enamoured with the LEH lottery and has till friday to submit her holidays for the rest of the year.....
Speaking with a local business operator he was telling me to tell everyone I know to write the minister and complain and to flood the LEH email contact with the same.
Didn't see any 2024 BC LEH threads yet so figured why not fire up a rant eh?
No reason why the system should not operate the way it used to , opening weeks earlier than it does since this NDP clown show took office and installed crooked EBY ... trudeau's evil twin.

You don't have to play the draw if you don't like it....

Typical response from you there fella.
nothing changes around here.
Personally it's about the government not delivering a service in a timely manner. The fact they despise hunters just plays into the delays.
I think it is an important issue facing those who participate and are trying to plan thier lives.
Not needing draws to put meat in the freezer every season.... as my yearly pics and posts do prove, I do still put in at the request of a retired friend of mine who lives fairly isolated and I put in if he asks me too. My wife is a newish hunter so she also has animals she wants to pursue under the LEH. So I will roll the dice on a couple tags if they ask me to be part of the group hunt or that rare elk tag where we know land owners. Otherwise it's no big thing but I still agree with those lamenting the delays as it is hard to plan our lives these days, especially hunters with jobs and families to plan around.

They just released some changes a few days ago, some of which relate to LEH.

I would think the LEH should be coming out shortly, gotta get these new regs into the system first though.

Regardless of whether LEH applications were available now or not it is not like you can plan around it, the results would still be at least a month away. At least they can have relatively fast turn-around times with LEH draws these days because it is all online. Maybe I'm wrong on this, but I feel like last years results came out pretty darn quick compared to like 5 years ago.

Gov plays the leh like they are waiting for some crucial detail of information that they need to make a decision, as if all species are on the brink that a couple leh would push them over the edge

then they have to wait for the other gov't to show up at the pow-wow with an offering

results seem to come quicker because the time line has been changed..... shortened on the front end LOL
I could be way off base fellas but I remember the LEH used to start around the second week of April, a couple weeks after the license year began and results were posted in around early June?
I will do a search of the various BC forums and see if I can check my info.
Last year the BC LEH came out on the 11th of may according to CGN threads and know a lot of people who were b*tching about it since the NDP took office here.

Leh in bc is a joke, I stopped looking at it a few years back.

That's great .... I get that.
But as a hunter aren't you concerned that it is but more actions against hunting in BC that all of us should at least give a sh*t about , no?
Not calling you out bud, I respect the answers and posts you make on this site or I wouldn't ask.
A lot of guys I know who have been at this most of thier lives don't really care much about the LEH but new hunters do for sure.
I apply for an LEH region with no other open season around Babine Lake because I have an old friend there and it is another excuse to go visit for a couple weeks and spend quality time floatin in the boat or atving way into the back country. We also have a friend with acreage in an Elk LEH zone with astronomically poor odds but we apply anyways hehe , again , no regular season there, just LEH.
I'm retired, so I don't really care but I have lots of online friends that have been emailing me and my wife and her little group of new hunter gals are all nattering away about the late LEH

So knowing full well some of the predictable CGN peanut gallery monkeys would try and get some digs in over my thread...... I decided to post and start the conversation anways. LOL

Looking at threads from years past, you seem to be on the right track. Info out mid-April, applications in May, results late June.

They had public consultations running until March 22 this year though, and only just approved some of the changes related to that consultation a few days ago, so I can't say I'm surprised its late. Again.

The Babbelfish translator was malfunctioning and I needed to use Google search:

Limited Entry Hunting (LEH) - Province of British Columbia --- i.e. hunting licence draws

Yeah it’s bullshít, but that’s nothing new. Every year I look at the leh and there’s so little anywhere near me, let alone never getting picked for anything when I did apply. I’m better off just hunting the general open season local to me or doing the odd trip into neighbouring regions to hook up with friends, cheaper than heading off god knows where to an area I’m not familiar with. Cost of gas alone is prohibitive, It’s a joke and I’ve long stopped paying any attention to it. Just more provincial govt bumbling, you know no matter how much noise we make they are t going to do anything. I mean look at the CO’s, when you call them for an actual reason they don’t even show up. They either don’t have the number’s or they don’t gaf, the ndp are even worse.

NDP could give a sh^t about hunting in BC, and I'm sure they wish it would just go away so they could concentrate on the city folk and crackheads.

As 45ACPKING says, very late this year to even open the LEH.

I got lucky in 2019 with a Mule Doe and again in 2020 with a Moose - called in a Moose opening day, didn't get a shot and chased him around for a month lol. Didn't fill either tag unfortunately.

Thats one take on it. My take is it gives me an opportunity to hunt areas I wouldn't normally travel to, for species (moose specifically) that I wouldn't normally hunt. Drawing a tag on a moose in region 3 or 5 is a hell of a lot closer to home than the GOS moose hunts up in region 7.

Gold!- ref the fella comment, lmao. well done!

Reminder for anyone looking to get in on LEH this year, you should check your residency credentials to make sure they're not expired. They have to be updated every 3 years iirc.

Leh was almost at the end of May in 2022

It's annoying as hell it always takes so long, you would think technology would make things better/faster...
