The 2024 Fall Limited Entry Hunting (LEH ) Draw is now open for applications.
The deadline for applications is 11:59:59 pm Thursday, June 13, 2024.

I totally agree with BB.
The questionnaires they send out I ignore.
Then a different coloured one shows up.
Then another.
I filled out one with a long pmo note regarding their paperwork.
How hard can it be to see the tags a hunter buys and send out the corresponding questionnaires?
Telling me failure to fill these out could hamper future LEH applications.
Been buying doe LEH for years and not a prize won.
Next year I succeeded in a doe draw after my nasty note.
Go figure.

I quit buying them after than.
Win more on the BC Lotto for kripes sake.

JMHO

It may be a joke, but I will not complain. Not often I have failed to get at least one draw [usually put in for 5 animals]
I submitted my choices already....we have till mid May to enter. Don't know how many hunts I have left, I'll be 80 next
spring. :) Dave

Whether you feel it is worthwhile or not, just a friendly reminder:
You only have a few days left to submit your LEH applications.
For those who do: Hope you have success!! Dave.

For the last fifteen years, the results have been released in the period of the second half of June, to the first week of July, regardless when they open the applications. I always have fun with LEH, the $6 lottery and only lotto I play, I just don’t hold high hopes of a win in something with once in a hunting lifetime or less odds. But it’s fun trying. There’s still some gimmes out there if you travel, I used to go for those hard and often won draws.

Good luck guys, I’m in for some freezer fare hunts elk on the coast, bison of course.

Thanks for compiling this information.

I mostly focus on the not-easy-but-not-ridiculous stuff. 10:1, maybe 15:1, that sort of ballpark. And then there is Elk. Its only $6 to try, but I'm not about to make a trip to Vancouver Island for Elk so I just put in for Stave River. Only 107:1 for a bull up Stave River last year lol

In the last ten years I have probably tossed about 150 bucks at LEH and got one mulie doe draw for my mom's back yard. I went hunting that morning and shot the biggest mulie buck I ever have so I didn't really need the doe draw. I really want that 8-10 moose draw though. I see them everywhere except a spike during our 15 day season and it hurts my feelings.

Good luck rooting for ya, would be a fun and practical hunt free time wise in there. 107:1 is certainly a longshot, but, much better than the Lotto 649. And the dates there are from Hunting BC.

107:1 isn't great, but compared to the 3094:1 for one of the sheep units its pretty good! lol

this is a fair point to make however the applications opening late really does mess with a lot of people's planning.

I don't know about other folks but when I put in for a draw I check if I can even get that time off..... well these days I go when I want to but when I was working for someone else, holidays had to be booked in the spring. The earlier the applications for LEH opened the better..... the date they release the results didn't really matter as the time off was booked "just in case"

This is exactly what my wife and her small group of lady hunters were lamenting and I have heard it in various discussions in various places, including BCWF meetings and outings.

I can't complain, I do not lack opportunity for the animals I choose to hunt. My disabilities are really slowing me down anyways so I have to leave the tough hunts to others and just enjoy thier stories and pictures.

I did put in for an elk in 6-9 at a friend's request as we have private land to hunt there..... there's only one tag per time allotment so I doubt I will get that draw anyways.

Didn't bother to put in for deer does..... I don't have much trouble putting the provincial bag limit of antlered ones in the freezer every year so why bother shooting the ladies.

I do want to get an elk and a moose again before my legs and pelvis give out entirely but truthfully I am destined to hunt for deer in the areas I know well and most of the hunts in the LEH I long for are physically getting out of my reach anyways.

The wife put in for elk in a spot we know with decent odds and moose in my favorite spot that seems to have more tags this year so why not. It would be fun to call a nice bull in for her so I hope she pulls a tag at least.

I come off very negative at times...... it's not really my intent but the current government and how they are handling the LEH and other hunting/fishing related things is far from how I think things should be..... but that's the struggle isn't it?

good luck folks.

I'm a bit confused. Did you used to focus solely on the odds and the number of tags when choosing which LEH you wanted? Its not like season open/close dates, or region borders drastically change every year.

I don't get the angle of your question suther.
If you must know, I put in for animals in areas I am familiar with.
In the end I don't really care what the odds are. In the past I put in for elk near chetwynd.... I know the area and have friends up there
I put in for moose in 6-9 , Nadina lake area kinda ..... since my first year in the LEH and always chose 5-1 as a second. Again, I know both areas and have good friends in Houston, Topley and Endako. The past few years I have been putting in for moose in region 6-8 because former CGN member Bland lives up there in Smither's Landing and we moved passed CGN aquaintance to good friends. He's an old timer now and if he or I get a draw it's a great excuse to hang out for a couple weeks running the dog on birds and maybe get a chance at a bull. They are no pressure hunts and the real value is time spent with friends.
So no, while I do look at the odds I guess..... they never play into my draw picks.

how about you Suther? Seeing as you are so curious as to my LEH habits.
My job is to give advice to my wife and her group of hunting girls these days. I'm really not concerned about getting draws myself. Like I said.... and have shown season after season here in my posts..... I don't have any trouble filling my freezer every year with enough meat to last until the start of the next season.
How about you ? where are all the pics and stories of your hunting adventures??? I don't seem to recall a single one LOL
Are you even a gun owner or just a relentless paid actor among us ??
