Goodday folks,

I've been fairly quiet of late for many reasons, some of which I will not go into.

One of them is that the shooting season is upon us, and I'm busy as a rifle coach and competitor, and another is that I've got so many dang little projects on the go.

Well, here's one of my projects. I started this last year, because of a gentleman who built a little tank for his son. This was my initial inspiration:

Now, thinking this appeared to be a pretty neat little project, I investigated, and bought a set of his plans to see if I could build one too.

Well, I got his plans, and everything on his tank is made of wood. From motor mounts, the hull, even the track itself! Not bad use of materials onhand, but I got to thinking that I could build something a bit more resilient.

If I'm going to build a tank for my son to ride in, it's gonna be a kick-butt machine that's not going to stop for anyone.

So I went back to the drawing board. I started thinking and looking and collecting parts and bits, and here's a progression of some photos that document the project's early days:

One of my "must have" items was a fully functioning suspension, here's one of the swing-arms:

The trial assembly of the swing-arms:

As you can see, the initial testing proved that the suspension works!

Modifying the frame to fit the motor mounts in properly:

The motors mounted. You can see the torsion bar suspension system here, with the rods going from one side of the tank to the other.

I put it in Milsurp because it's going to be a Tiger 1 eventually.

Just so's you guys don't think I dropped off the face of the earth with respect to projects...

Now, that is way beyond cool!

Hey NS, what if it's you that wants him to stop...

I'd like to see video of it operating when it's done.
