Okay its a bit of a tease, it was Larry's personal 1911 - one of the prototype VT Nighthawk guns.

While I hummed and hawed about leaving it as is - I did want a light rail - and decided to have a Novak/Bonar M1913 rail attached, but I am still kind of waffling on that - as all my 1911's have rails except this gun and my Novak Commander.

This gun feels like ball bears - the trigger, the slide - anything. While the Nigthhawk guns are very nice, you can see that LAV spent some personal efforts on this one as well.

FYI - LAV agreed to come up and do a 1911 pistolsmith class. I need to T up with my associates and nail down the best time.

We will also try to get get him up for some pistol classes - and I am going to work out closed LE/MIL classes as well (CQB and Low Light stuff) mainly due to the weekdays are best for him, and that makes it easier to slot ranges, however it limits the bookings typically to the government types who do it for a day job.

Kevin,

Congratulations on the Vickers 1911, having something out of LAV's personal inventory is a great snag, make sure you put that 1911 to "Hard use". :) I'm sure you will. Mine runs like a champ, take care.

PS......Get that Glock box out of the picture (haha).

FYI that is my second Nighthawk gun -- plus I have 2 more (VT Recon and 10-8), these for Canada now coming up thru Target.

I am thinking of selling off my Springfield TRP Dawson Rail gun, and maybe the Novak Commander - we shall see. I will be selling off my Springfield Operator Custom shop gun (but its US based so not realy applicable here)

Its Aluminum - the flash made it look bright white -- I'm in Ottawa - but we will be back in the states next week and I will get some better pics.

I think it was just how it ended up. LAV was shooting a personal 1911 at the latest class and it was a railed gun with an X300 and Crimson Trace Laser Grips.

His "unit gun" never had a rail - using one of the early lights that clipped on. The last full built gun of his he own is like that.

The VT guns where desgned to offer a LAV type gun to people who would then be able to get them (LAV no longer does 1911 work other than pistolsmith classes, as his time is more sought after for training).
They where offered in normal and recon (railed) frames.

i'd be very interested in this... if you can, please let me know if this becomes a reality. :)

A quick question Kevin. From what you are saing about LAV still using the 1911Does this mean that LAV has chosen not to switch over to the HK45 or is
it a simple matter of using a gun in class that others will be familiar with?
I'm not trying to stir anything up,Just curious as Lav & KH were so involved with the developement of the KH45.

Oooh! I'd be interested in a pistol smithing class. I'm afraid that I probably couldn't afford it though.:(
