Looks dumb as hell.

Law Tactical AR-15 Folding Stock Adapter

Law Tactical has developed an adapter system which allows any AR-15 stock to fold to the side. The system works for all commercial and mil-spec AR-15s.

The system requires an extension to the bolt carrier (which is supplied in the kit). The biggest problem with the kit is that firing the gun with the stock folded disables the gun.

The system sells for a reasonable $179.

UPDATE:

If the gun is fired with the stock open, the bolt will be locked, it won't injury the user.

The Bolt Carrier Extension part, when installed correctly, will hold the Bolt Carrier Group in place. ** **The Bolt Carrier Extension will also stop the Bolt Carrier Group from flying out and causing any injury or loss of life if someone should accidentally fire the weapon with the stock folded. If fired when folded, the locking finger will bend, preventing further operation of the weapon until it is replaced. This is done to eliminate the possibility of catastrophic failure of the adaptor due to repeated misuse.

What's the point? It can't shoot when folded. Just a "Cool" tact look I guess.

the only people who actually FIRE a rifle with the stock folded are either goofing at the range or starring in a cheezy 80s drama where everyone gets shot without bleeding or dying.

The only practical requirement for a folding stock is transport, ie you need to reduce the oal to fit the gun into a bag, backpack, concealment etc. It is incredibly difficult to engage a target with anything approaching accurate fire without using the stock on a rifle. So honestly I think this has a lot more practical application then looks but in Canada where you can't take you're AR anywhere but a range its kinda pointless unless you have a small case etc.

If that works with the 22lr conversions it would be sweet.

i do not see why it wouldn't work, given that the conversion bolt has external dimensions similar to a regular BCG and the cycling is done within the conversion bolt, the conversion bolt itself is not moving against the buffer.

I would be seriously hesitant because if things go wrong at all, you're messing with your gun's ability to cycle, which seems like extremely bad juju to me.

However, if it worked with absolute reliability, it would have some applications for people who need access to a short, concealed carbine. If you had a 10-12" AR with a folding stock, you'd have an extremely short weapon you could keep in a very small case.

Again I would be very skeptical of the actual function of the thing...but I think that all else being equal (which it rarely is) I would take a folder over a fixed stock whenever possible, just because you never know when it might be handy to shorten your gun by a foot or so.

There's a few folding adapters on the market already for those wanting to add a folding AR stock to a non-buffered rifle.

I can see merit to this for transport/concealment, but the "shoot it folded" and your gun bungs up.. I'd be worried.

Anyone who wants one, just send me your money and I'll burn it and save you the hassle.

Hate to say it but I agree. Guys, it's lame. It's purpose has nothing to do with civilian shooting. When on earth do you approach a target or range with the stock folded? That video is ridiculous!! "I just pretend tactically patrol up to my steel target with my butt stock folded!"

No

You don't do that EVER. Combat role or competition. So the video is prett ridiculous. For its true purpose, concealment/transport. Then great! But when on earth do you conceal AR's in your life in civilian world. Never. Transport , ok fair enough. But if you need a folding stock to transport or weapon...then maybe rethink what weapon you have bought. It's a AR, not a Uzi.

It's looking like a good product for Combat use (airborne, armoured, SF) other than that. Pointless. Just my opinion,

when your sitting in your cramped LAV with your buds and your stock folded rifle to save space and some goof runs up on you yelling 'jihad jihad' and waveing his hands in the air. i just want to be able to point my gun out the door and start cappin'. i dont wanna have to like pull my gun out and snap the stock into place and then make sure its locked then fire.
