I would never suggest that he destroy the guys set up. Removing garbage (which is what signs other than municipally posted are) on public land is a public service. As for the guys blind, he has the right to put one out as much as the next guy has to put up a tree stand etc. He doesn’t have a right to tie up public land for exclusive use. If you want to be shut out by every guy that wants to put up a sign on public land then you go ahead and do so. The rest of us will carry on. That said, if I encounter a guys tree stand I move along a fair piece as that’s common courtesy. If some guy was actively posting public land in my area I’d make sure to hunt it hard and often!
There is also the other side to the coin which I experienced.
Doing everything legally yet others feel "you are in there spot" , I had continuous issues with a fellow hunter who "reported" me as well for being his area, interfering with a legal hut, or whatever you want to call it.Numerous visits from the CO , which I caught on my cameras, to which I'm still amazed he found the spot, must of been GPS'd by the complainer.
Finally got a hold of the CO , said there was another hunter in the area with a stand I was interfering with, I'm like okay , but I never encountered anyone in the immediate area.
I finally found the hunters stand the following year, yes, I was within 200 yards of his stand, so I was technically , possibly interfering with a hunt as his stand was there first.
So about the "stand" which I actually found by pure luck, not on any notable trail or clearing in the center of the trees , pretty much impossible to find, the 2 x 4's nailed to the tree for a ladder were there so long they wouldn't hold a cupcake and the platform was a few planks with a chunk of scrap plywood sitting on top which also looked like it was ready to crumble at any moment. If I had to wager a guess is that it was there unused for at least 10 years.
I lived in the city at the time so I would imagine the local took exception to me being in the area that was theirs. As others would say a citiot or slob hunter I guess is what I was labeled as.
Had my stand it the area for many years previous and never ever seen this hunter in the area or coming or going or anything.Just happened to be there one time and stumbled upon my stand and took offense.
The CO was fair about it, and mentioned the condition and circumstances but did say he could write me a ticket for traveling with my bow on my quad, as well as not having my address posted on my feeder(just name and phone number I'm not that dumb to post and address for others to find),he suggested I leave the bow in the blind or stand if I wanted to travel in with my ATV?!? WTF?
So at the end of the day these are the types you are sometimes dealing with. You'll never hunt in peace so sometimes it is better to just walk away as a face to face confrontation won't end well for either party.
I did find out later on who it was and they did have connections within government.
