Lay It on The LINE 1 MOA

Lots of people can shoot .5.Who cares. If you really want to impress...which is what you seem to want to do here...Sprint 100m then try holding minute of man. That would impress me.Sorry but I just don't find little groups all that exciting.

same here!!the rifle can't fire itself it will miss every time it don't shoot

Geezz I have a hard time shooting .5 moa at 100 m for christ sakes LOL would not bet money on i could do it everytime either?
I thought i did good to hold Moa at 300 yards! I would be happy with Minute of garbage can lid at 1000y!

Ok blast me slap me whatever to me..

Am I that s**tty at shooting, Maybe?
How in the Hell does every one get .5 MOA everyday, I shoot a lot 2xs a week and may different cartridges.

I only Have a few guns I can say yes 100% I can shoot .5s .7 ans .8s everytime out and under, if i can read the wind or what ever right?

So is it me? Am I missing something or is everyones equipment that much better and or reloading and shooting skills?

Hijack - begin

Must of us are thankful with for a single .223 inch hole on varmits, or .308 inch hole one a deer. Anything other than that is gravy!:D

Hijack - end

An average off the shelf hunting rifle should give anywhere from 3/4" to 2" 100 yard groups with factory ammo...

With reloads you can sometimes shrink the groups down to average 1/2" to 1" 100 yard groups.

Then it also depends on the scope that you are using, personally I find scopes with the higher magnifications help me get my groups down as well so really it is a combo of what quality of off the shelf components you buy that results in the size of the groups.

I was at the 300 yard rifle range today and was sitting beside a guy with an older 7mm Mag with a low power scope that was averaging about 3" - 4" @ 50 yards and wasn't happy but was talking that the groups were acceptable...

Also he was shooting 6 to 7 shots with out letting the barrel cool where as I shoot on average a maximum of 3 shots in a sporter barreled rifle then let the barrel cool down.

In my Rem 700-P 223 I shoot 10 shots before I stop to let it cool down.

Here is a 300 yard 9 shot group that I shot today with my Rem 700P 223 and the next picture is a 300 yard 4 shot group that my son shot with my older Ruger M77 tang safety 22-250.

We were out getting ready to go coyote/bobcat/wolf hunting... :D

The groups aren't the best we have ever shot just a sampling of what our varmint guns can do.

Tools that work to perfection when called upon impress me...

When it comes down to it, if you are a master wind reader, and a perfect practiced marksman, you cannot shoot better than the rifle.

Small groups are very meaninful to me. They tell me the limits of my rifle system (rifle, ammo, shooter). If I do not know what these are under ideal conditions then I will be wasting alot of time second guessing issues in the real world.

I shoot on an excellent rifle range, with concrete benches, on a concrete covered slab, with a relatively sheltered first 100 yards.

When I achieve consistent, small groups under these conditions, then I am confident that the rifle, and the ammo (bullet, brass, primer, powder, seating depth, seating concentricity..etc) have been optimized to the practical limit of the rifle and application.

This practical limit is very different for my various rifles. For my Marlin 30-30 I am very happy to get a consistent 1.5-2 inch group at 100 yards, after all in Ontario the deer are just not that small!

For my custom 6.5-270WSM target rifle I expect a much better group and consistency.

I believe that:

(1) You need the best tool for each job, but that the tool has to be appropriate for the job

(2) If you do not know your tools well, it will be obvious in the end result!:)

This is your original post:

its not that you are a crappy shot it is just that there is alot of liars on the web. i shoot alot of long range usally 700m to 1000m and there are so many shooters that talk s**t and say its easy to shoot that far.but when u invite them out to shoot they always have some ### excuse why they cant come out. i talk s**t about long range shooting but when itcomes down to it i know i can shoot .5 moa out to 1000m and am willing to prove it anytime.my name is MUTT and if anyone calls bulls**t on that pm me and we will go to the range and see whats what. and all you ppl who sit on your computers and lie about how good you are the only person you are fooling is ur self.

You made some claims in the above post and started talking smack,so people are calling you on them for more info.

If you can shoot at 700 meters in ALL weather (snow, rain, wind, etc) then you are indeed a master at this sport.Shooting in nice sunny summer weather makes thing a LOT easier..............

I can shoot, but I will not claim I can do 0.5 MOA at 600 meters (our longest range here) everyday, day in/day out. Too many variables can affect the shot.

So in the future you can drop the attitude with the D*ck/Panties B.S. comments and back up/discuss your claims and this topic in a mature and adult manner.

I did make a semi-smart-assed reply regarding the Liars comment & the claims you made, but I kept my post polite.

If you insist on coping an attitude here you will not last long on this forum.

If you have the time and feel like a road trip, come out to Chilliwack B.C. this June and shoot with us at the B.C.R.A. Tactical (Sniper) Match. We go out to 600 meters in ALL condition, and in various positions. I would love to come out and shoot with you on your range, but my work and family situation prevents that.

Cheers, SKBY.:)

Good idea!
Muttroc, find a partner and come on out. It's the 21st and 22nd on June, with zeroing on the Friday. If you need we even have sleeping quarters on base.

Ok. I'd like to see proof of your claim of " i will claim that i can shoot .5 moa out to 700m all day long...". Please post names and references along with contact information of those who can back up your claims. Or better yet, join the guys during one of their BC shoots and show them what you can bring to the table as far as shooting ability.

Should be simple to do, right?

Hell I'll go with Slavex on this one, I've been shooting for about 60 yrs and I can shoot a .25 all day long if I shoot at 10 target's and use 10 rounds, very interesting shooting I must say but I think if I could hit that 300 yard paper I would be very happy, any ways it good reading and entertaining, have at er. Just my thoughts.
