Lay It on The LINE 1 MOA

I'm pretty skeptical of anyone who claims "all day, every day". As mentioned before, people's groups tend to improve over the internet. lol.

While, I can't claim to do this every day, here's what I was capable yeterday while working up some loads at 100 yds. A mild day with some intermittent strong winds (approximately 15-20 kph).

I've got exactly 165 rounds through the gun so far and most of those have been 155 Scenars over 44.5-46.0 gr. of Varget. 46 gr. seems to be the best yet but my average groups aren't close to the average groups shot with the 168 gr. A-MAX that I just began loading for this particular outing. Go figure! Incidently, I gave up on 3-shot groups a long time ago and concentrate on 5-shot. Any load I've developed now will shoot (3) rounds acceptably well so it was telling me nothing, really.

I haven't given up on the 155 Scenars as I've got more comming along with some 167, and 185 Scenars. Got some powder on the way too - mainly, H4895, IMR4895, and yet more Varget. Oddly enough, the Lapua products are far more convenient for me to get (read:local) than all other brands, so even though I'd like them to pan out for convenience sake, I'm not married to them by any means.

When I find (1) or (2) very accurate rounds, I'll stop load development and continue accuracy testing at longer ranges.

my LTR will hold 1 MOA out to 600 meters with handloads


I have had lots of .5 groups at 100meters,and some .47's and one .44 (five shots)

but I still call my rifle a 1 MOA gun cause it will do it as long as I can

Go to the range and see how many guys are shooting 1/2 moa all day. Likely only a few long range precision guys and thats it. Have a look at the targets in the trash can, no one is rushing home to post pics of those groups on the web.

You never see these .5moa shooters at the range because they are at home making up another bulls**t story based on the fact they shot a .45" 3-shot group, once, 15 years ago.

LOL, well said. Actually, sometimes i forget my targets and will shift through the trash can at the range. The groups on the used targets aren't .5moa thats for shure.

We are just as bad as fishermen. Once man i swear i cought a fish thiiiiiiss big. LOL

Those are realistic groups!
I have had days like that, some as good at 200 yards and some days LOL! worse
I brought this up, I shoot 1 moa and under usually at 100 m and i shoot quite a bit.
I would hope over the years i developed some good habbits to off set my bad ones!
 
This is a 300 yard target with varmint loads in my Rem 700P 223 the main 8 shot group measures 1 3/8" X 2" the lower 2 shots were to get the drop figured out.

These loads are not individually weighed but just thrown from a RCBS powder measure I am using the cheapest RCBS 2 die set available they are definately not target loads.

Yes this rifle when I do my part will give .5" to .75" and will usually group closer to the .5" 100 yard groups all day long...

I'm not talking 3 shot groups either I am talking 10 shot groups...

With that said this is one of the few rifles I own that will consistantly give me this kind of performance.

I find controlling my breathing the biggest obstacle to accurate shooting. I have an airgun with a 1 ounce trigger that shoots single holes at 10 meters if the shooter does their part. If I am anxious, angry or not concentrating on the task at hand it all goes to hell.
 
Went shooting today

Here's my groups, their ok i guess, at 100 yards. i did get some different targets wich are fun IMO. I hadn't shot at 100 yards in a while. I usually test loads at 300 and find it to be a better guide of what a rifle and shooter can do.

its not that you are a crappy shot it is just that there is alot of liars on the web. i shoot alot of long range usally 700m to 1000m and there are so many shooters that talk #### and say its easy to shoot that far.but when u invite them out to shoot they always have some ### excuse why they cant come out. i talk #### about long range shooting but when itcomes down to it i know i can shoot .5 moa out to 1000m and am willing to prove it anytime.my name is MUTT and if anyone calls bull#### on that pm me and we will go to the range and see whats what. and all you ppl who sit on your computers and lie about how good you are the only person you are fooling is ur self.

Wow, where did this come from? I don't recall anyone challenging your character or shooting ability on here?

Question for you. How often can you do your .50 moa @ 1,000m - "all day long"? Can you do it under all weather and environmental conditions? How about changing wind speeds and directions to target? How many sighters does it take you to "arrive on target"?
 
I know for me, lots of dry firing and knowing the gun that I am using, as someone (I think Skullboy) said before. If you have issues with one gun, take out that gun. As for the .5 all day and all that garbage. I look at it like this. I got my picture of my nice little .4 of an inch at a hundred and some decent ones at 300 and so on and so on. Its like carrying around pics of your kids in your pocket. Can I do that every day? I am a good shot, but bad days happen or you putll a "what the hell happened there". This shouldn't be a pissing contest or anything else cause what it really comes down to is, can I hit that metal gong, or shoot that deer or am I working on my groups.

Keep doing what your doing and who gives a rats ass if your groups are .15 of an inch better then mine. Shoot, have fun and practice, practice, practice. The rest is just faceless people on the internet, some of which just like to talk shooting and guns.

Now talking about calling people liars on the web............:rolleyes: ;)

If you can shoot those 0.5 MOA groups at 1000 yards ALL day, day in and day out, under ANY weather conditions, where is your name on the Wimbeldon Cup??.................because you would be one of the top shooters in the world....................

I normally ignore posts such as the one above, but that is a pretty bold statement to make when there are quite a few world class long range shooters on this board who do this for sport and for a living................I have never heard any of them make a claim like that................


And if you do happen to be that world class shooter who has it all together and can do this All the time in any condition, then congratulations................you are the Master................

I love this pi$$ing contest. Mutt throws out some bait, and Longshot counter-baits him. Awesome! If you're running against others with similar ability, you will have trouble holding 2 moa. Been there, done that.:evil:
 
Lots of people can shoot .5.Who cares.If you really want to impress...which is what you seem to want to do here...Sprint 100m then try holding minute of man.That would impress me.Sorry but I just don't find little groups all that exciting.
