Myself and couple fellow CGN's are gonna be laying out on the frozen ground of a recently flooded island in NB along the saint john river. We're hoping to arrive around 5am and will have two spinning wing decoys (drake and hen mallard) landing into about 25 decoys feeding on fresh cut corn. we're gonna be laying out amongst the decoys with corn thrown over top of us so hopefully tomorrow morning's flight path takes them right over us for a look. pictures to follow (hopefully)!!

im not a duck hunter......but im trying to visualize this:p .....you are gonna hide in a field?..buried under corn:rolleyes: ..then try to wack off a few ducks?
please do not take the pics of this:p ....
just razing ya.......good luck with the hunt...

Ha ha ha, you'd be right Ryan... I'm having a moment of weakness prior to the final rush of terms end...

Gotta paste em with #4's tomorrow... Or so I hope...

Cheers

Ok...I guess I should apologize for getting anybody's hopes up that were looking for pictures, and thanks to all for the words of encouragement. It would be too easy to say "yeah it was AWESOME!!!"...but how shall i say it...we got skunked!!

It was a really good time non the less. wasnt too cold. we werent racing with anybody else for the "good spot"...seen a couple does and a buck. it really was the prefect morning, other than only seeing maybe 2 dozen ducks from a pretty respectable distance (ie. far!). we had one fly over and take a look at the spread but didnt seem too interested. we had beans and weiners IMP's to warm us up....something that has been keeping everyone around me warm since. The only real downfall is the outboard died about 200 metres downstream from where we put in but there was a couple other duckhunters that gave us a toe back.

oh well, we still have a couple weeks left and im not giving up yet. ryan you should get a hold of jay cause we're planning to hit the islands hard the last two days of the season (and after his exams)...you'd definantly be more than welcome.
later...nick

Dec. 19th 7 to 9pm is my LAST EXAM!!! I plan on being in the corn the 20th and 21st, the two last days of the season! The pic I've shown everyone from several years ago... was taken on the 2nd last day of the season... 24 mallards and blacks in under 1 hour, two robo-ducks flapping and one hell of a time!!!

Cheers
Jay

I read your post before I went out last sat and was wondering if i should have stayed in town, but we drove Sussex and saw hundreds og big green heads. Shot a few but with the ice they seamed to just circle and get fed up and left. Hopefully better luck in themorning with the rain and warm weather the ice should be gone. Hope fully the skies will be black again with flocks of ducks. Oh and I thought the season ended on the 18th of dec?

Chris
