I just read Clive Law's Without Warning Canadian sniper book. Very interesting indeed....I know that some among us have collections of various models of Long Branch sniper rifles and related scopes and gear. Also, any Canadian marked British sniper rifles... If anyone would be kind enough to email me some pics, I assure you they will be anonymous...it'd be nice to be able to share some pics of your treasures with the Canadian gun community.

Here's one to start. 90L series LB with REL No 32 Mk 3 scope.

Seems to be 3000+ depending on condition, accessories, origin, whether the parts match, etc.

There was one on the EE recently with the scope and chest for 4000 or so. Don't know if it's sold yet.

Those prices are for British examples. There were 30,000 Brit examples made. Canada only made 1500 no4Ts, and they are priced a tad higher.

I don't think there will be many full sets of no4T available at the $3000 price anymore. The sum of the parts is worth a fair bit more than that.

HOWEVER, vehicle parts are the same. Buy each part of a car individually and the price is 10 fold, but when is the last time you bought a car piece by piece.. :)##

Sniper #4mkl? Metal scope cans?

Are non metal cans common to Canadian sniper rifles?

Both of my No4 sniper rifles have metal cans.
The Indian version (ex British) with the REL #1 scope has a can with rounded corners and the scope screws to a pedestal inside.
The British issue version has a can the same as Cantoms'.

Both have numbers painted on them matching the scopes and rifles.

Scroll down to Collector's Note #6. ..... it should be noted that the carrying case for the No.32 REL scope for the Long Branch No.4(T) sniper rifle, unlike it's British counterpart for their No.4(T) sniper rifle, was NOT marked with the serial number of the corresponding rifle. (refer to picture virtual tour above for more detail)

Carrying Case for REL No.32 Mk 3 Scope used on Long Branch No.4(T) sniper rifle.

Markings:
CASE.SGT.TEL.C No.8 Mk 2
C.O.S. 2578A

Cantom, I saw one of these recently for sale on-line and I can't remember where, but I'll have a look at my history links and see if I can find it for you.

The round cornered can was the first version. The square cornered can came next, and somewhere in 44, the canvas over metal pouch came out. Post war, the cans were stamped out again brand new either as replacements or for the L42.

True, but cars aren't just 4 or 5 parts which are super desireable, and come apart in seconds. Recently one of the cans and carrying strap sold for over $1000 on ebay. Figure that any scope in good shape can see $1600+, an original scope bracket will see another $600, then you still have a rifle to part out and the main chest to sell.

Even the rifle is almost worth as much broken up as it is in one piece, although they seem to have recently climbed another notch.

Talking about the rubber boot container, for some reason the stitches on the straps were weak. Most I've seen have a few broken threads.
