I know where there is a correct Long Branch sniper rear sight. Has all the markings including the "Maltese" cross. What would one expect to paid for this?

Wow. That's a deal. This guy is asking $400. eBay is getting
$ 125 -175 for just the MK1 micrometer sight. Key component for a LB sniper kit that selling for $9500 - 12500.

I never seen any fake LB sniper sights. The "Maltese" cross shown on Cantom's sight is correct. Very difficult to fake that. Just a side bar...had a No4T (Brit) that had a "S" Savage sniper sight...have it somewhere in the parts drawer.

I've seen a few fakes and had one or two that might have been, as you could see where the battle sight aperture had been ground off.

You can see on the two I pictured that it is dead smooth in that area...the fakes never look as good as that no matter how carefully they try.

I should think the arsenal said OOPS! when they tried fitting the scope and simply milled off the battle sight rather than making a special run of "sniper sights" after all, there was a WAR going on Sniper rifles were selected for their accuracy, and they were taken off the line and modified.

All the LB sniper sights that I've looked at appear to have the rear aperature removed by milling and the surface ground....need some specialized equipment to do this. The sight that Cantom is showing has been processed this way.

I've also seen Canadian sniper rifles with "S" marked sights (Savage) with "Maltese" cross. Been told that these were for the 1945 order to the UK. Anybody else seen such a sight?

The UK Savage MkI/1 rear sights are NOT "maltese cross" marked.

From what "DRP" told me, they show up in mid 1944 BSA rifles.

I have one which has been rebuilt with EFD marked componants. It was @$15.00 from Collectors Source...

They are easy to fake, hard to detect unless you have a real one.
