I have a LC Smith 12 gauge sxs,30 in. armor steel barrel,2 3/4 in chamber,ser# FWS409xx ,marked field Fulton,NY,USA on the barrel,I would give it a 7 out of 10 condition,does anybody know the value or age of this firearm?

A Field Hammerless with fluid steel barrels in 70% condition should range anywhere from $700.00 up. There were 195,000 made.

Your serial number should be around 1920.

Strictly guesstimates on my part on the limited information. Pics would help.

My dad has a 16 gauge 1901 field grade L.C smith in 99.9% condition.worth about $3000.00

That would be understandable as prices can almost double for 20 and 16 gauge based on rarity of those gauges in a L. C. Smith and the minty condition you list.

Marstar had a 16 guage L.C. Smith in excellent condition with shiny bores for sale about 8 months ago. If memory serves me correct, Marstar was asking around $1500 to $1800. Thought long and hard about it but shied away as I really didn't want a 16 guage as ammo seems pricey and I don't reload shotgun shells. Apologies for hijacking the thread.
