Just read on the net that Pietta had a prototype made up of one of these and had it at a Arms show last year. There is even a film of it on you tube. They are considering putting them into production.May noy be too pratical but would be a fun gun to play with.If it does come out and it is non restricted I will probably get one.

uberti makes one aswell i have been looking for one for a very long time. it is much nicer and msrp is under 600. if anyone finds a dealer please let me know. its called

1858 New Army Target Carbine
they also have one thats not BP

The other carbine you mention is a copy of a Remington revolver carbine, the difference for those who don t know is the Lemat has a nine shot 44cal cylinder with a 20ga center barrel.I don t believe though if it is put in production that the price will be lower than $1000

Get your face too close to that cylinder & you'll wish you had safety glasses on! Always like the look of revolving carbines, but always heard the same complaints of splatter & the odd burn from have their other hand sporting the barrel...

Wonder if it would show up on civil war reenactments, as far as I know only the hand gun existed at the time.

The Lemat handgun was more prevalent than the rifle, but the rifle did exist at that time. Lemat even made the pistol (and rifle too, I believe) chambered for a pinfire cartridge at one point too.

There was a gentleman on the British Militaria forum that made one, maybe this is it.

Its a beautiful looking arm that will look better with use and wear, they would sell a ton of em in Canada -non restricted and all-

Fool proof in the hands of a fool

Only a fool would put a hand in front of the cylinder of a Colt, Lemat or Remington revolving rifle/carbine. Probably not more than once .... ;>)

The Colt ads of the era show the proper method of holding the rifle.

I believe if the Taurus revolving shotgun was restricted, I believe the idiots who say Yay or Nay as to catagory would make these restricted Lemats, too bad would be a fun gun out to plink in the woods with!! The wood on that gun is fantastic!!!! Dale Z!

The Taurus was restricted I believe because of how the buttstock was attached to the grip it could easily be changed to a revolver. The Lemat wouldn t be as easily converted just like the Remington revolving carbine that s not restricted.

Also depends on whether or not the company ever used the tooking and dies for a revolver, specifically in relation to the frame.

Kind of like the USA not allowing guns chambered in 7.62x51 to be exported, but if you used a reamer stamped 308, and marked the gun as 308, it's fine.

I didn't say anything about intelligence....:D
I believe Lee Van Cleef was the first who showed me how to properly shoot a revolving carbine. ;)
