That depends on what your version of BUBBA is.

I know a couple of rabid collectors that break into tears when the rust and dirt is cleaned off certain firearms.

Very pretty rifle indeed. Hopefully it will come close to and better yet, exceed your expectations.
 
Second group, zeroing the scope at 100 yds.

Weirdly the image is rotated 90 degrees, so the spread is mostly windage ... and it was a bit windy today. Ammo was factory Hornady 150gr.

I found a source of flat based .311" 150gr Sierra for a really good price so those will be the bullet. Hornady 174 were more difficult to find and nearly twice the price of what I got.
 
They certainly shoot well, and "if it isn't broken......." Wind will be a bit more of an issue, but apparently that's all, it's certainly doing better than 99% of the L-E's I've seen. There aren't many MOA Enfields out there.

I'm not overly concerned about the ballistics of a 150gr 303 bullet. It'll be more than adequate at any range I'd shoot this rifle-scope combination. I shoot 125gr .308 bullets to 700 yds in one of my other rifles.

I'm not going to claim this as a 1 MOA rifle based upon one 3-round group. I am really not expecting it to maintain any such accuracy. Honestly if it will hold in the 1.5-2.0 MOA range I'd be satisfied and that would still be better than the majority of LEs.
 
Been playing with some cast bullet loads. Best so far produced a 1.75 MOA group with extremely consistent 1800 fps velocity. Gonna load up a batch of those and keep my fingers crossed that the accuracy continues.

I had a box of 174gr Hornady boat tails to use up. Everyone kept saying that flat base are the way to go so I have a supply of 150gr Speer waiting. First time I shot the Hornady boat tails on paper and they produce a 0.68 MOA 5-shot group. This unforeseen result brings up two questions: How much more accurate are the flat based 150gr bullets going to be? This is, after all, a nearly 70 year old battle rifle. Should I track down a supply of the Hornady 174gr bullets?

I was feeling a little like I had spent too much on this rifle but when one compares the normal expectations for a No4 LE to the results I am seeing, it feels like the money was at least reasonably well spent.
 
If the bore is crisp, boattailed bullets will work well. If there is cordite erosion, flat based bullets will work better. With a sharp bore, take your pick.
