Does anyone know where one could go or send samples of lead to be analyzed for content? I have a few batches of ingots of wheel weights, range scrap and Linotype and if like to know exactly what is in each batch.

Are you willing to pay for this service, or are you trying to get it done on the cheap (free)?

SGS Ludwig on Ogden Road SE does atomic emission spectrometry, that will provide a very accurate analysis, but it won't be free. Budget around $200 per sample.

A scrap yard, third party inspection firm, or a welding shop that does a lot of stainless or alloys, will often have a portable X-ray fluoresence machine. These things are super easy to use and cheap to operate, so if you have a friend there they may provide analyses for free. Accuracy is okay enough for the purpose.

I was willing to pay, but it's not worth $200 per sample for my purposes. Next time I'm at the scrap yard I'll ask if they have the machine and could scan a few samples. Thanks.

you might be better off getting a hardness tester if you want to know the hardness of the batch you have. they go for about $100 these days but you may find a used one.
