Lead alloy price check

Checking loc.smelter for lead alloy ingot prices.
I was quoted 1.4$/lb for lead with 4% antimony. Min.purchase 60lbs..,
Buying for a friend as joint effort into casting.
Is this ok price/deal?
It will be for casting 9mm projectiles.
We are in Vancouver area of BC.

Its a decent price if you are getting it from a wholesaler. You may need to add some tin to help with mold fill out.

If you can find older Lead Wheel Balance Weights , they are about $ .25 / lb. New ones are Zinc & not good for bullets.
As said above you may want to add tin to make harder . Also if you can find "Lino Type" that will add hardness too.

Tin adds very little hardness, that's antimony's job.

They still use NEW lead weights...last weeks bucket contained very little zinc. Tire weight of choice is steel from the buckets I have been getting. YMMV

What percent should we aim for in our mix (1,2,5%)?
