Lead Bullets in Glocks

It is not recommended.
If you use lead, you better clean the barrel more often than normal. Lead build up could go real fast and that's not good for your bbl and your safety not to mention your health due to lead exposure.

get an aftermarket barrel with conventional rifling that will allow you to shoot lead. One of our site sponsers www.questar.ca sells them.

Barsto, Storm Lake, Lone wolf.......all woudl work well for this purpose.

If you do shoot lead in your Glock (and I do as well), be sure to use hard cast as it is far better than the home made wheel weight stuff that is much softer. Hard cast is far less fouling and like was mentioned above, just check more frequently to ensure all is well. Best solution is an aftermarket barrel and then you have no worries at all.

Same with a USP. (9mm is terrible for lead, 40 not quite as bad and many guys are saying no problem with 45 (moving to slow to cause a problem).

Does this also apply to USPs as I think they have poly barrels as well?

Good Lord! Don't even think about it! Shooting lead out of Glock barrels has been linked to climate change, low birth weights and an increase in the rate of continental drift.

Seriously, I have over 45k rounds of lead reloads out of my oldest model 19 with no ill effects. I use slower powders and notice no more, or even less leading than out of my Hi-power, Firestar or any of my other 9mm's. Friends of mine have been shooting lead out of their .40's for over a decade with no problems.

With the .40's the real problem is the "generous" chamber. Hot loads and brass that is a little long in the tooth can result in case ruptures at the 6 'o clock position whether it is lead, plated, or jacketed. Keep your loads mild to medium with older brass and save the once fired brass for the hot stuff. Monitor the condition of your barrel after every 50 rounds or so until you see how your barrel/load combination works, and clean/adjust your load as necessary.

I have heard this before.
In fact, the gentleman who talked me into buying Glock, shoots nothing but lead reloads out of his Glocks (he has several, in at least 3 calibres). As you stated, slower powders and he doesn't max load to kill paper. Minor cleaning every 250 rnds and strip cleans every 500. Never an issue. Thanks for re-affirming this for me.

OK, a couple of you shoot lead but remember to let people know (and you did) that you specificly tailor your loads to shoot lead and you have to clean very often.

The blanket statement lead is fine in a Glock/USP is a dangerous one. Some people may walk away thinking the hot lead bullets they shoot in a CZ 75 are also fine in a Glock.
