I don't cast my own bullets, but I do work somewhere that has the need to dispose of waste lead in the range of hundreds of pounds at a time. Basically when we renovate or move an old X-Ray room we remove the lead shielding from the walls (1/8" x 3' x 8' sheets). Most landfills won't take the quantities we generate and with what we get from a recycling company for scrap it's not worth our time carting it in. So I was thinking that I may be able to help out some lucky reloaders who cast their own bullets with a free source of lead.
No that I've got your attention, here's the problem. This stuff has a purity of 99.97-99.99%. Does this make it too soft to use in cast bullets?
btw, as it was used in X-Ray rooms and not to contain radioactive materials there is no hazard in handling this stuff, other than it's pure lead.
