Lead free .22 LR for hunting?

What's a little lead among friends? Is it that harmful?

The distinct flecks you see in this X Ray of my right arm have been there for 53 years...
that's lead from a .Remington 22 Long Rifle Hi Speed Hollow Point.

Cool pic of the x-ray, amazing how much it fragmented in soft tissue! Hope that wasn't too painful for you at the time :p

Lol sorry man, I was joking. Didn't think you'd take me seriously. I was at a CQB course all day, or I would have clarified earlier.

You're basing a firearms decision on something you saw on CBC? Seriously?

Do what hunters have been doing since guns were invented - cut away the meat from around the bullet channel and STOP LISTENING TO CBC.

CCI 925CC is solid copper.

Dealers that buy from North Sylva (they have tons in stock) can get it for you (including any Crappy Tire that sells ammo if the sports dude is not too lazy to order them in - not a regular product, but can carry them).

from what I read its not solid copper, but a mix of copper dust and pollymers. so, we are going from lead to plastic. probably better off to have lead rather than plastic/copper fragments

I just shoot 12ga steel shot at my wascally wabbits these days........just make sure they arent sitting in front of a big rock. Ask me how I know........big spark show with a dozen ricochets. Dead bunny though

I saw the article and it reminded me I wanted to ask the good folks of CGN if they knew of any places to find lead free .22 Its good to know whats going on in Canada if it impacts laws around firearms and ammo...like it or not articles on CBC can provide an insight into public opinion that may one day impact policy. But thanks for sharing your hatred of the CBC :) Also, the first gun was a bamboo tube mounted on a spear, so inaccurate that it was basically used to scare people in battle. Hunting came once accuracy improved :p But I get your drift, thanks for sharing your thoughts!

HAHA too funny, but yeah thats true steel shot..do you just try to catch it in the head with the edge of the spray or ? I don't have a 12 guage but I do have a 20 guage I've been meaning to use more..

Normally I do if its really close, I try to hit with the edge of the spread . If its beyond 20 yards I just let him have it all. Unless you use cylinder choke, there isnt nearly as much spread as people think. Certainly no "cone of death" lol
