Lead only at ranges

If you blow you nose and "black stuff comes out" thats bad... I would either shoot with a parical filter on my face or look for a different club... you know one of those white paper jobs should work.

Its a good idea to have a shower and try and wear the same clothes each time you go shooting so other clothes dont get contaminated with gunpowder residue or lead.
 
Air should be moving downrange at close to 1 m/s to effective. When working at the indoor range I always wear a mask, hat and hoodie and always wash my hands whenever I get a chance. And Im on the range for 6-8 hours a day sometimes and never had a problem with lead...

I wouldn't sweat over it. It's just GSR. If you're shooting lead bullets, the amount of lead in the dust (if any, remember bullets are coated) is very minimal. Washing your clothes will be fine. Just make sure you don't lick any lead and wash your hands before eating.

Only a very small area has wax lube on them... I make these. The only bullet that wont put lead particals into the air is encapsulated bullets... even FMJ with exposed bottems can put lead into the air...
 
The amount of lead in the air from a fired bullet is nothing to worry about folks. I'd like to see proof that there is a significant amount of lead worth worrying about from firing a lead bullet.

You're also forgetting about Alox which coats the entire bullet. It's what I use.
 
Honestly though, there's nothing to worry about guys. If anyone tells you that you'll get lead poisoning from shooting, they're full of it.
 
Nah.. you can get lead poisoning from being in an indoor range for extended periods of time. Ive seen multiple people get lead checks from their doctors and they are not allowed on range until their lead content goes down....

If you shoot indoors quite a bit, you should be wearing a mask and make sure you wash up.

I do :D unfortuntatly I invested the money in commerical machines because I shoot so much its quicker to make them this way and way less messy, I tried alox and its garbage as far as im concerened... the wax lube way gives no barrel leading and you can reload the bullets right away you dont have to let them sit for 24 hours for alox to harden etc.

This is the first I've ever heard of it.
 
Ya.. and that's why people who work at indoor ranges are usually required to get a test every month or 2 months to make sure that the levels stay down... When you spend a lot of time in a range, you notice it....
 
I've had a buddy who worked at an indoor range for almost 10 years, never heard him mention any issues with lead whatsoever.

I work at an indoor range and the lead tests have to be done.. if you test higher, you are pulled off RO duties until you are cleared by the doctor to go back in... Granted, this is only on the range Im at, not sure if it applies to all ranges. But Ive seen guys when their lead contents are up, and you notice it. They change, become really irritable and tired...

Buddy should probably get checked if hes on the firing line for an extended period of time...
 
No idea.... just all the crap in the air... I'm assuming that there would be no "lead content" in the powder or what not?
