Lead oppertunity

Did a big melt years ago of "Drano (lead) pipe" to produce a small s**t pile of 5 lb. ingots.
Buddy & I are still using them to cast both bullets & decoy anchors !
400 lbs. is a nice find !

How about 2 tons of print type?

That would be an awesome find.

I picked up 269 pounds of pure lead in ingots the other day for a buck a pound. The guy (a member here) threw in quite a bit more of old, old style WW ingots that rival linotype for hardness, a couple pails of wheel weights, a 5 gallon pail of brass and 400 MT Chambers pre-lubed 530 grain 458 Postell bullets for nothing.

The harder I look for lead the worse I do. When I'm not working at it lead seems to find me for nothing. Awhile back I could have had twenty pails of range lead for nothing. I took 7, figuring to leave some for other shooters. A trick that I stumbled on years ago involved Lindy style fishing weights and a gang mold. The amount of sinkers that can be made in a hurry with 10 cavity molds and junk lead is wild and mesmerizing. A bit of a evening casting session had more sinkers than I'd use in 5 lifetimes so I started giving hand fulls away to fishing and tournament friends. Guys talk, many of them couldn't thread one of those glittering like a Alberta sized diamond sinkers on without mentioning that that Dogleg feller gave him enough to hold the front of his boat down for nothing. Strange guy, makes em out of scrap lead or something. Ever see any construction lead or lead pipe around your sites/businesses give him a call. Here, take some I'll never use them all anyway.

People are funny; many who couldn't care less about a few bucks are incapable of forgetting a favor regarding their hobbies.

My issue with most lead stashes I stumble upon is the cost and logistics.

I wish I had a dual axle trailer and a few thousand extra dollars. A Bobcat wouldn't hurt either.

I also drop off lead fishing weights for my regular lead suppliers.
