Lead Round nose problems

I recently bought some Wolf reloads, 230gr lead round nose, and after about 45-50 rounds down range I start having trouble with stoppages. By the time I get to 80 or so shots through it my pistol barley functions at all. The slide will not seat itself fully forward on its own but if I manually #### it she works fine. Is this a common problem with this type of ammo? I have put at least 600 factory 230gr FMJ's through it without a problem and I am wondering if anyone has advice or a remedy (besides cleaning), not sure if it matters but the gun is a Ruger P345

I get the same problem with lead SWC in .40cal and lead RN in 9mm in my match chambers. Lead bullets often have a shoulder that sit proud of the case causing this problem. More of an issue with guns fitted with match chambers. Other than checking each bullet by pulling the barrel and using it as a case gauge, or running them through a press to shorten the OAL to the minimum, not much else will work.
 
Don't be completely discouraged, the lead RN 9mm that jams all the time in my Sig 229 with barsto barrel, feeds reliably in my Sig 226 with factory barrel.
 
what gun do you have?? my norinco had the same problem with wolf 230gr plated. It has a tight chamber and the plated bullets were a few thousands larger than factory 230gr ammo and would actually jam on rifling.. I had to put them all through my press through a factory post size die and shorten the OAL and then had no problems.

EDIT: nevermind its a ruger, if it works up to 40 rounds, then it sounds like its just getting really dirty

Exactly the same problem with my Norc Commander with both jacketed and cast ammo, I used the Lee Factory size die, solved the concern nicely.
 
X2colin: use the cleaned! chamber of the barrel as a case gauge. If the cartridge protrudes past barrel extension(compare to factory), then reloads are not seated properly(for your handgun). Reload yourself, and do it better.
 
I'm not so sure its the bullet in this case, it could be the powder residue causing the trouble.

I've used the same Wolf ammo and have noticed that it's very dirty. I've got no idea what powder Wolf uses in their reloads, but in comparison to the Bullseye powder I usually use, Wolf's powder produces one hell of a lot more smoke and residue.

When I reload my .45 with Bullseye, I have zero issues. I use 4.0 gr Bullseye and a 230 gr lead RN bullet.
