Lead shot

A friend of mine gave me a bag and a half of hard lead shot. I don't really have a use for it so can this be melted down and mixed with COWW or would it make the alloy too hard.

Shot has a pretty high antimony content and can be used for very hard bullets, particularly if water dropped. It will work fine for handgun bullets but it's unnecessarily hard.

If you aren't trying to push them over 2000fps I'd suggest selling or trading for softer lead. Shot is worth around $3/lb these days.

That shot is too exspensive to melt down . Sell it to a target shooter.

Shot is a little too pricey to be melted down for bullets. I would sell or trade it for other more suitable lead.

If nearby I trade you more lb's of perfect hardness ingots for your shot.

That shot is too exspensive to melt down . Sell it to a target shooter.

unless you have a few hundred pounds of pure lead that needs a bit of hardening then the shot is probably cheaper to mix in than buying bar solder or pewter.
