Lead Through a Glock

So I have a G17 and I am looking for an indoor range. Most of the ones that I have found so far do not allow the use of jacketed ammo. From what I know, lead can bung up a glock barrel pretty easily.

Have any of you shot lead through a glock? Is an aftermarket barrel needed in order to do this?

Yes, you should consider an aftermarket barrel with lead bullets due to the polygonal rifling in Glock factory barrels. That being said, I shoot at a lead-only range and have seen many Glock shooters there - not sure if they're running lead with factory barrels, using aftermarket barrels, or just ignoring the rules and shooting FMJ (more likely than you think!). I'll be sure to ask when I'm there tonight if I see someone Glock'ing on the line.

This has been discussed to death, but the short answer is: go ahead and shoot lead through the Glock....Just clean it every 200 rounds or so to prevent a lead buildup in the barrel which would increase the pressure.....I`ve been shooting my lead reload`s through my Glock 22 for the last 18 years....Never a problem....
 
go nuts and then clean it. i have a bone-stock G22 (.40S&W) and shoot my own lead reloads. clean it after 200-300 rounds and it SHOULD be ok. i think that hard-cast stuff is better than monkey-cast-wheel-weights, too.
 
Who's shot lead thru a Glock....

I've shot hundreds of lead reloads thru a stock Glock 22 .40 cal barrel with no issues. Judicious cleaning after each range session is the key, though.
