Lead value

Current pure lead spot price is around $1.15 US per pound, scrap such as unprocessed WW should sell somewhere between 50-80 cents/pound. Ben you got a great price for pure at 50 cents. I suspect you have a good working relationship with a local foundry.

I was handed down a LOT of old SG shells that were reloaded by an old trap shooter that passed away. They are inconsistant and unreliable.

Thinking of salvaging the the shot if it is worth while to spend a couple evenings stripping the hulls.

Shot tends to sell for around $2 a pound out here, in Ontario it's less. It would probably not be worth that much, but close if all the shells were loaded with the same shot size, so you end up with a nice amount of a specific shot size.

Strip the hulls, doesn't matter which way you look at it, the shot is worth twice what regular lead is worth. Every guy I know that reloads shotshells is looking for shot. At $50 per bag, you would have no problems in getting rid of it. Keep the shot size seperate, nobody likes to buy mixed shot sizes.

With all the other countries that are needing more and more materials and rising fuel prices etc etc... I don't see the price of lead getting cheaper anytime soon or ever. With environmental concerns I don't see it getting any easier to get for cheap or free either so grab and store what you can...

And if you have to sell it, sell it to a shooter who casts
