really? you use mercury for this in 2012? Were would you even purchase it, it's controlled isn't it?

I won't go on about the infinite number of toxic/neurological side effects that make lead poisoning look like candy floss by comparison...the saying "mad as a hatter" came about for a reason.

No don't! Mercury is about as toxiic a metal as you want to be around and you won't be getting it at Canadian Tire anytime soon. Use 100% copper Chore Boy or the Lewis Lead Remover.

If your barrel is stainless steel, a quick and easy way to clean out leading is plug the muzzle with a cork or rubber stopper and pour a 50/50 mixture of white vinegar and hydrogen peroxide down the bore to fill it. Be carefull not to get the mixture anywhere else. After 10 minutes pour it out and check for leading. If any remains repeat.
