lead wheel weights going bye-bye?

Why is so much gold found in rivers and streams and gold does not float.

The pulverized lead also becomes airborne, have you heard of un-leaded gas.

It doesn't bother me, I stopped casting bullets in 1982 because the wheel weights contained so much junk metal that contained toxic heavy metals.

If you don't think airborne lead doesn't have any effect on the human body, just look at how friggin nuts Trump is.

Many here would not mind trading with you!
I'm not saying all Trump does is great but for sure he is a blessing for firearms owners.

You are welcome to come to Canada, it’s not like you have to do any paperwork or follow the process, just walk over the border and you get all kinds of free stuff with cherry on top. BUT, remember to leave your guns behind coz they are going to be banned soon by our favourite liberals.
I wish I was joking

I was told lead weights are going to be a thing of the past very soon anyone have any news on this?

New vehicles get zinc WW and have been for a number of years now. Lead WW are still legal- local Cdn tire still uses them as do other tire shops. Lead bullets have been banned by most indoor ranges for a very long time with good reason. I cast my own and even outdoors when I walk down to paste my pistol targets I am often walking through the lead particles in the air along with the powder smoke and lube residue. None of it is likely good for me and certainly the lead isn't. I get my lead levels checked once a year and so far I am OK. I have a very good friend in WA who damn near died from lead poisoning from shooting at an indoor range before decent ventilation rules came into affect. His two young boys also were treated. I am careful, to a point, when casting my lead bullets in my garage and do wear breathing equipment when smelting my WW's down into usable bricks. I didn't always but do now. All the fumes from oil and gunk burning off the WW can't be good for you.

To the fellow who was worried about stick on WW. They are pure lead in the main and require antimony to make them usable for pistol/rifle bullet casting other than for the black powder/cowboy action crowd. Right now about 20% of the WW's I get are either zinc or steel.

Take Care

Bob
ps to the OP lead WW's likely will be a thing of the past. The Liberals/NDP and Greens will end there use about the same time they have delt will their laundry list of social reconstruction ideas. They do know what YOUR values are just ask them.

Lead weights are going away for a simple reason. Stick a lead WW on on an aluminum rim that's been clear coated and you soon get a chemical reaction that destroys the clear coat, growing like a cancer out and away from the WW. Thus the need for coated zinc weights. Lead is still made and sold but only used on steel rims which are rarely used by the OEM's. Steel rims for winter tires still see some lead use but I sell the alternatives the majority of the time.

Most casters seem to have multiple lifetime supplies.

Rubbish, you have no idea how long I intend to live, which is true. Or course neither, do I hence the need for more WW lead alloy.:>)

Let's see 1000 lbs will cast 56,000 125gr bullets which is only about a 5 1/2 year supply at my current rate of consumption. Ummmm Homer needs more....

Take Care

Its also an investment. As supply dries up, the price for ww will increase.

That happen's with any dissimilar metal's, I think it's called galvanic corrosion
