Lead

Anyone know a good source for Hard Lead (around 6% Antimony) in Southern Ontario it will be used for making Target shot. Thanks

The easiest way is to go by your local scrap dealer and pay 50 cents a pound for scrap wheel weights. Of course, you'll have to smelt them down yourself.........or, you could buy bullet alloy/linotype from that place in Hamilton if you're rich.

That's about the only thing I use wheel weights for, making shot, it seems to be the right mix for hardening when dropped into liquid.

Alchemy Castings Inc. in Hamilton are your source. Any cast bullet mix you want. I'd try and pick it up if I were you though, shipping lead can get pretty expensive

Babbitt, Linotype,or Monotype...scrap metal dealers , check 'em out.

Keep an eye out for (real) old plumbing/sewage pipe. Lots of shot or bullets in a relativaly short piece of lead pipe.

Also, Canadian Tire might give you the 5 gallon pails of old wheel wieghts if someone hasn't already spoken for them.

Go to your local outdoor range. An hours worth of scrounging can net you more lead than you can carry... providing it's allowed.
