Leapers optics??

Any one use leapers scopes? They don't seem to be really common up here. But a lot of the reviews I have read say they are decent quality for the price. I really like the idea of the adjustable 36 color mil dot reticle.
I know people say that you get what you pay for with glass, but my coyote hunting package my wife is letting me buy is getting past the $1100 mark, so high end glass is off the table for now. I have scopes ranging from a high end Nightforce worth a couple thousand, down to a $90 tasco, both work ok for their application in my opinion. So I am not extremely picky, but I don't want to buy junk at any price. I'm also trending to the Leapers simply because I don't have one, and I like a lot of variety in life.
It would be used on a .204 ( probably Rem VTR ).
Also, in real world applications , will you notice much difference between a 44mm or 56mm objective, and much difference between a 1" and 30mm tube.

Last time i heard about a Leaper scope, it was at the range and the poor shooter just had is back lens felt in the sand... JP.
 
For a reason or another, when I think of Leaper, leprosy comes to mind... and I try to avoid both.

On a less sarcastic note, putting the cheapest glass you can find on a varmint rifle makes as much sense as buying a Porsche... than trying to save a few $$ by fitting a Lada engine in it.

- Yes, it will run...
- Yes, it will take you from point A to point B...

Just don't expect it to be reliable/repeatable.
 
funny I always pronounced lepers.

redfield offers good "budget" optics with clear glass that will take you farther than the lepers scope ever will.
similarly, vortex has alright offerings with good warranty.

lepers will leave you with a good candidate for maybe a large smoking pipe, lamp, fish habitat, dog fetch toy etc.
 
I've had a Leapers on both a 22-250 and an M-305 (M-14). No issues, but by the sound of it I'm the only one.......

You guys have all tried one, right?
 
certainly have. looked cool but left a lot to be desired in terms of performance.

wasn't mine though, was on a buddys .308.

They basically are Chinese knock off scopes marked LEAPERS. I have yet to see any decent chinese made optics....there is always something that sucks, QC is non-existent.
Buy something decent, American & Japanese made entry level scopes can be had for $150-$300.
 
Being younger and foolish I bought a leapers scope and put it on an M14 about 5 years ago. It was ok, even with about 400 rounds of ammo through the gun, but just last week, I was sighting it up, and the scope seems to have shiat the bed. I will never cheap out on a scope again. I guess it did what I needed it to for a while, but there some issues with blurred crosshairs and a few other minor things. But I'm now getting into hunting, so I can see the advantage to better optics. I wouldn't buy another Leapers scope ever.
 
D&L Airguns has a good selection. I was going to order their 3-12x44 compact for the 22 but went with something else. Good luck.
