I know there's a lot of controversy about leasing a property around here, but after a few years of unproductive deer hunting I was thinking about potentially renting a place, I just wanted to check and see if anyone on here was familiar with http://www.outdoorpropertynetwork.com , I saw their add on kijiji, just wanted to see if anyone had any experience with it.

Not many people around southern ontario lease places to hunt. I have asked tons of farmers if they are interested and no luck so far. I have one lead that i will follow in summer for a huge place. Hope it works out.

No experience with the mentioned site.

I checked a couple locations on the network site to see what was available and what I figured I would find I did. Nobody offering land, only want ads. I'm sure that site will be useful, but I have a feeling that if a property that is available does get posted it will be jumped on like 25 fat kids fighting over a pop tart. It wouldn't hurt to keep an eye on it but I wouldn't put all my eggs in that basket. A lot of guys are going to tell you to start knocking on doors and the same amount of guys will tell you they've done the same thing for years with no luck. I don't want to sound harsh but there are very few (very very few) properties that are available in Southern Ontario. In my experience, farmers either want nobody on their land for varying reasons, or they allow 1 hunter/group and that's it, which is how my properties are. I have asked if I could bring new people and the owners aren't interested. I can understand some of their concerns and it's easy to say this because I already have 3 different properties to hunt. Is there a shooting club in your area? Check it out, you might get some leads from that, even if it's part of a group hunt. Or possibly think about purchasing some property. It's tough sledding out there unfortunately.

I've often thought they should do something like what they're doing on that site. But they've missing stuff. They should be coordinating this with landowners like snowmobile clubs. Requiring insurance on the part of hunters. designating that only properly insured hunters are allowed to hunt there, and have a system for each land block that's first come first serve (i.e. designated parking spot). Then the landowners are getting the benefits of working with that organization (again, like the snowmobile clubs pitch to landowners) and they'd maybe get some land. And that's something I'd pay for as a hunter.

It is tough, and the door banging isnt working too well for me, thats why I thought I'd check them out. Buying land is the dream though, hopefully I can make that happen and groom the property to my own liking.

In or around close to toronto, deer hunting along with a million or so other people, if you really want to hunt deer, head north, losts of land up there. Seems like everyone and there mother looks for land to hunt, but most dont put up the effort and end up tresspassing where i dont take too kindly.

never trespassed before, not going to start now. And I am a bow hunter, the property I do have is within 45 min of my house, with development encroaching its starting to change and its quality is becoming less and less. The nice part about close hunting is I can go more than once a week. I would often head out for the afternoon bow hunt and be home for dinner. Crown is great to hunt but the closest crown for me in 3 hrs away, thats why I am considering the lease option for closer properties.... heck, what I spend on a lease, I would just end up spending on gas to get to the crown if you combine the extra driving.

Have you been smoking the liberal crack,Like hunters don't have enough regulation now,you would like to add more.

How's your reading comprehension skills? There was no mention made of regulation.

I think i do ok in the reading comprehension department.

Apparently not, even on the second time through. Nothing I said had to do with regulation. I was talking (clearly) about private enterprise developing a system - just like the snowmobilers. That has nothing to do with regulations.

Perhaps you simply don't understand the word 'regulations'. Here, let me google that for you:
