Hi.
I have a SXS which has the end of the stock finished checkered and no buttplate. I would like to protect the stock for instance in the rack at the club and at the same time a little more length of pull would not hurt. I understand that the pad should be removed when gun not in use to prevent discoloration from the leather dye or any ill affects to the wood finish.
Question is - has anyone first hand experience with these and see pro's/cons with various makes? Any comment on the effectiveness of the gel or neoprene for both recoil reduction and versatility in extending LOP? Are any available from the site sponsors? (not just because international shipping, $ exchange, and duty suck, but also because supporting CDN is the right thing to do). I recall a custom leather shop is a sponsor but cannot seem to locate them in the dealer forum to see if they have a product.
Here are some examples from the net and thanks in advance for any feedback:

Tourbon from China on Amazon for about $25 US

Orvis. About $80 US (same ballpark as the next two also)

I think this is Leather man from Kevin's in Fla

Finally Galco:

I had the Galco. Excellent product. I have handled the Tourbon. Garbage. I think the Orvis is made by Galco. Will buy another, although likely the Orvis when I'm buying something else from them and can save on shipping and handling. IIRC Galco is in Cali...Orvis much closer to me.

I have a galco and two kick-killers. Like both styles, the kick killers are a lace up style though so I haven't had them off in a while. Kinda scared to take them off, didn't think any discolouration would occur, yikes. Interested to see what you come up with

I bought the Tourbon one from EBay. Had to wait about a month for shipping and it cost about $22 Cdn. I use it on the Mosin and it soaks up recoil very well.

Discoloration will definitely come although in how long depends on the finish.

The Leathercrafter came through. Love when a guy takes pride in his work! Thanks Jon. Protects my butt (literally) and a little length of pull exactly to specs.
