Leather holster for IPSC?

Hi guys,

I already know that there is a lot of thread about IPSC and hoslters.

But I didn't find anything on leather holster.

I don't want to buy expensive race holster, but I do not want to go in Kydex either, since I heard they are tough on the finish and I don't want to hurt my SA 1911 Black Stainless beauty. This will be for the Standard class...

Can you recommend Leather holster that are legit and where I can find them?

I have had difficulty in finding a fitted, leather holster for the 1911 that allows the gun to fit deep enough to cover the trigger, as required by IPSC rules, if the 1911 trigger guard has the squared profile.

Go to wilson combat's web page and take a look at the Practical holster among others he offers. They will work for IPSC just as well as IDPA. I have a Practical and I like it

Doesn't that Yaqui slide cover the trigger and guard? It would probably be quite quick and very minimalist.

Check out laroche leathers (.geocities.com/larocheleathers/holsters6.html) I got one of his competition holsters for my H&K USP Custom Sport. The holster was custom fitted to my gun and works great, although I have not competed with it yet.

Laroche Leathers is in Aylmer, Quebec and several IPSC shooter around here use his stuff.

I have a Bianchi #52 that works well for IPSC it meets all requirements,has no retaining straps to get in the way,holds the gun tight enough and covers the trigger guard as required.I have never used it for IPSC myself (I stick to the"racier cool factor" holsters),but I did lend it to a friend for his BB course and matches untill he bought himself a CR Speed.

If you are wanting to save some coin, when not just use a nylon holster like Uncle Mike's. They will meet the requirements and usually even removing the safety hammer strap will keep the fireatm secure and still fairly fast for drawing

Look on Ebay for an Ernie Hill Fast Trac holster, you can find them in black basket weave or plain brown. They aren't made anymore but they pop up on ebay quite a bit. It is a great IPSC holster.
