LEBARON now sells sks's

The bore on my Izzy from leBaron was black and green after pulling a bunch of patches. After some TLC it is clean and shoots accurately. It's not a precision rifle and for the most part I will be using milsurp ammo so not sure if my refurbished SKS barrel will be the weakest link. Probably is my 44 year old eyes and shakey booger hook!

Sheeesh....I finally took her home, and cleaned the bore. Came out nice and shiny. I thought the barrel was ruined when I first shone borelight into it and my heart stopped, it was rough, black and could barely see the rifling. It was just grease....
anyway, the service at Markham location was OK. These guys have no clue what they are selling. Well, maybe the tall young guy seems the only one who does know what he sells but they buying experience isn't stellar and doesn't make me wish to go back and buy more guns there. Al Simmons, on the other hand.....

OMG, these SKS's Lebaron is selling are so beautiful! I talked to someone shooting one at Oshawa club and I said, hey, I shooting SKS right now too but yours look so much better. The idea of silver bolt at least to me meant silver paint. The bolt looks silver but not painted, just like others from Lebaron. It looks totally unissued. Not a scratch on it. Made mine look like crap (1950 /w spring pin) and it was decent too compared to what was out there at the time. I guess mine has more character. Maybe it saw action!? Rifling looks good still but slightly worn but still shoots very good to me.

Makes me want to buy a few more... But I don't want to. I have 6 guns already. I want to stay under 10.

He's not a bad guy to talk to his name is bing

Nice to know that Bing's still around. I remember him (and his son Archie, I think it is) from Mississauga, probably more than 10 years ago. Bing was always very approachable, good to talk to.

oh man, the prices at Lebaron are good. Makes me want to get another......and another......and another.......

Mine turned out to be Tula 1953. Anything remarkable about those?
I kinda like this game. You open the box and check what's there. Oh, its a Tula, oh, its an Izhevsk. Kinda like my kids love those little vending machines where you put in a quarter, turn the handle and a little colourful bouncy ball comes out, each time a different one but they never know what the next one is going to look like. They keep asking me for more and more quarters. Well, I am in the same boat but the toy is a big boys' toy.

People are talking about the Russcomm SKSs as filled with cosmo. The one I picked at Lebaron seems just dipped in oil but no thick cosmo. This is an easy cleaning job, no degreasing necessary. The accessory bag, on the other hand, it seems as if someone dumped some items in to a bag full of thick cosmo grease. I don't think I will bother decreasing this stuff. I will just dump it in garbage as it is. I will probably just fish out the stripper clips but that's about it. I have a very low desire of putting my fingers in that bag. :puke:
